Which is the longest unbroken sequence of great Prince albums?

I think it's the Dirty Mind-Purple Rain sequence.

I honestly think it's Prince - Batman. For me, Contraversy, ATWIAD and Lovesexy are the weakest in that sequence, but still great overall.

Since I think Controversy (the weak inbetween brother of both DM and 1999)and Purple Rain aren't exactly great, I'm going to say ATWIAD-Parade-SOTT....

Dirty Mind,1999, GB and the Truth are just as great however..

For You to Lotusflow3r/MPLSound, if we exclude anything by Symbol (1993-2000) so For You to Come (Released as Prince) and The Rainbow Children to Present

Definitely Dirty Mind to Lovesexy...no question! What an incredible run of albums with complete diversity in concept and range over the entire run - there's only a handful of artists that have ever achieved anything close to that.
...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

As much as I love, kinda way back when, I'd have to say...

Musicology
3121
Planet Earth
LotusFlow3r.

cool

Was "The Rainbow Children," right before "Musicology,?" not including, the instrumental, "N.E.W.S."

In all honesty I'd just really say from "For You," till now, however the albums I listed are the current Prince sound, which I love just as much as the earlier sound. cool
"The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

I may not get any agreement on this one, but I have to go with Diamonds and Pearls through Come. This includes Symbol and the Hits collection.
I don't necessarily feel as though these are his greatest albums, but it is his longest string in my opinion. If it wasn't for Controversy, I might say For You through Purple Rain.

I agree to a certain extent. I think Diamonds & Pearls through The Gold Experience is a very solid sequence, I wouldn't call it great, but almost great. (TGE = great, The Hits/The B-sides = great and the other one's = almost great).

i guess it depends on the definition of "great"

for me... from 1999 to Lovesexy is a string of absolute top-notch, essential albums... with ATWIAD being the weakest link.

I think his strongest trio is Parade thru Lovesexy.

More than that, it's 9 strong albums in 9 years...that's unheard of nowadays. Now, you're lucky if you get three strong albums in 9 years.
