What type of Box do you put your Prince music cd's in?

I've been using a crude cardboard boxes over the years and they've always fallen apart. What do you serious collectors use? Something practical and inexpensive? or did u go all out and get something big and nice. And what do the not so serious fans/collectors use. I know you all are unique and have some inventive ideas. If you don't mind could you please share. Please don't respond if all you use is a mass storage device or ipod or any other electronic music file storing device. I'm talking about physical storage. And for those of you that collect do you buy two of everything you can or just certain things?

Is it that hard to for someone as smart as you pretend to be to comprehend? I kinda expected that from your primadonna, anal retentive ass. Thats why I left out the mass storage device as an option, you've already said that you don't buy prince's music anymore, you just get it bit torrent. Most collectors
keep the objects they collect (in our case Prince CD's, T-shirts or Concert ticket stubs and anything else prince related) in something that they deem worthy of the contents. I've had some music stolen and damaged in the past and am now re-stocking my collection and was just wondering to what if any extremes the serious collectors go to.

Awhile back there was a thread where people were posting pics of their collections- it was really fun to see how elaborate some people's displays were, glass cabinets, etc. I have a water-proof fire type box that I keep some more rare items in. If I ever have a house with more room, I'd like to have a more elaborate display.

Is it a kind of question which surveys, in order to sell a "proper box" some kinda stuff online?

I was just trying to get ideas or see what others have done. I wish I could have seen the thread of others collections/storage. I'm not selling anything just asking a question of prince collectors. Do you buy two disc when a new one comes out (one to listen to and one to keep in mint condition) or are you happy with just one. Do you buy two Prince books for the same reason ect. Nothing serious, just a question. zaza and paisley thanks

Listen sunshine, I don't have to pretend to be smart. I have a brain, as most people in the world do. Welcome to life. I don't know everything, but I know what I know. Life is a classroom, and I'm a full time student.

Second, you rambled. I wasn't the only one who didn't know what the F you were talking about. Having said that, you could have said what you said in your pissy fit to me as your original post instead of talking about cardboard or something.

And don't you worry about my ass. It's fabulous, though. booty!

I just have wood cd racks for all of my cd's. The old albums and magazines I have collected are stored in liquor boxes, and a few cd's or picture singles are in a wood cigar box. Nothing elaborate, but safe and cool. cool

I keep my CDs in a rack similar to this. Mine is wider, and sits on a stand with a lazy susan in it so it spins 360 degrees. I don't remember how many it holds, but I have just over 300 CDs, and all but about 20 are in it. So I guess 280? The shelves are adjustable, and I could put DVDs in it, but I keep those in a buffet table.

On the stand it's about 5' 5", and is roughly a 12 or 13" square. Found it near the dumpster, and it was fine. It tended to bow outward in the middle when it is loaded w/ CDs, but some picture wire and strong eye screws and a few washers cured that. The whole thing fits in a corner quite nicely.

You can decipher some of Prince's most Devinci code like lyrics, but you couldn't understand that simple little paragraph (Yeah Right). You're right though EarnestSewage,I rambled. But who does'nt? I know I don't type in perfect english on this forum but who does? Maybe there's a few who do. And as for your ass, I'm not worried about it, I've got buckets of pretty pussy at home. Oh yeah, my name is HAZE and this ain't life.

I have mine in a CD tower and for years there has been no problem. However, since the 2000s when he started releasing his CDs in those cheap ass cardboard sleeves, I've had to get a jewel case, get some scissors and cut the cardboard sleeve so it will fit in the jewel case because it's slightly larger than the case. And the fact that it's larger than the jewel case means that it doesn't fit in a slot in the CD tower if I didn't alter the sleeve.

My storage sysytems are simple, may leave a lot to be desired but do the job. Every album from Rave onwards is in its original pack or case and sits inside my bedroom drawers (In New Zealand, drawers means a cupboard with draws, not a pair of underpants/briefs). The earlier albums are all in a Fellowes zip up wallet with space for 64CDs, these are this way as in 2002 I went to teach English in Korea and needed to lose all the jewel cases for storge and weight needs. Either way the CDs are safe, some are over 20 years old and play fine.

What is wrong with a nice amount of shelf space?
Cupboards are restricted too much and less afficient than a set of densely populated shelves. If you want to run off with my CD's, will you bring enough boxes? biggrin
