I would hope it would show that there is no comparison.....the differences have become clearly obvious

There are comparisons to be made, particularly because they were at the heights of their fame around the same time.

Hendrix, James Brown, and MJ.... If I were a musician I could live with those comparisons. cool

If you think for one second Prince was not inspired by MJ at some point then we're all crazy. Yes I believe Prince is feeling this along with the rest of the world.

Idiotic statement? Well, while we're on the subject...

Remember Prince saying this in an interview with both Chris Rock and again with Larry King: "He [Mike] wanted me to do a duet with him on the song 'Bad'. The first lyric is 'Your butt is mine', now I don't know if he wanted me to sing that to him but he sho ain't gon' be singing that to me!"

I always thought that was kind of a dick thing to say. Would have been cooler to just say they had artistic differences or something. He came off as kind of homophobic.

That was on Chris Rock from the 90's interview. His last public statements were about leaving MJ alone and supporting him when he was going to trial. And when he gave that Rock interview it wasnt from a lace of malice, he was talking about it laughing while simply stating the situation. Just because he commented on the "butt is mine" lyric doesn't make him a dick, especially since he was 'asked." If anything MJ asking why in the world is his chimp wearing a Purple Rain shirt in his own long form video in which he had complete artistic control on the content is being more of a dick then simply discusing an amusing story.

As for Prince remembering Jackson/attending funerals etc, Prince should do what he thinks is correct for him, no one on here knows what MJ and Prince's relationship was, all we know is they had met, discussed recording together etc, but their ego's were just too big for anything like that ever to happen !!
lots of people will be exploiting MJ's memory saying what they knew, how he was etc, Prince will not do that, I'm sure what Prince does will be in private to MJ's family, so if we do not 'hear' anything in the tabloids, it doesn't mean Prince has ignored MJ's death.

200% Right !

Of course he's feeling it. Unlike Prince and Madonna (the three Class of 1958), MJ was making classic music while the other two were playing hopscotch.

This will bring home to Prince his mortality and the fact he no children or a stable lovelife. Maybe Prince will cut the bullshit and finally grow up

even though some might misconstrue his silence, i think its a good thing Prince is right now. (Stevie Wonder declined to make a statement saying he was overcome with grief). For some reason i think Prince would say something borderline inappropriate and make some reference to Jehovah's plan or something. (Don't get me wrong I'm a Christian, NOT a JW, not the same thing...) So hopefully he'll show his support for the family and respect for Michael in a way that is positive...eventually

datdude - Obviously you are not aware that Michael Jackson and his brothers and sisters were raised as a Jehovah Witnesses. His mother Katherine is still an active Jehovah Witness and some of the family members.

Also if you noticed during that trial where there were false allegations against him he said he had faith Jehovah would reveal the truth and he would be vindicated. I really think it is sad there are some people for some reason on this site who make negative statements against Jehovah Witnesses based on stereotypes. Oh and by the way Jehovah Witnesses are Christian - again you are stating false information.

Who's to say that he hasn't contacted the family privately? He's not the sort to come out with public statements.. why would he now? It seems to me that all these celebs, making statements are basking in reflected media interest confused Jumping on the media wagon, like the attention whores that some of them are... Not cool.

I agree with this 100%! I was thinking this same thing while in the car earlier. I thought that Prince must be thinking about his own mortality at this point. He's not getting any younger and he has no children. No, that doesn't mean that he isn't a grown man or anything stupid like that, but it means that if something happens to him, what happens to his legacy? He has no one. No wife, no children.

Michael's death made me sad for Prince. Michael may have had a weird life, as far as those that don't know him are concerned, but he was a father. He was more than MICHAEL JACKSON:THE SINGER, he was a father. Prince doesn't have that. He has his career and that's it. He should adopt or something shrug

Jehovah's Witnesses do BELIEVE in Jesus Christ and consider themselves Christains--which means to be Christ-like. Their door-to-door ministry is BASED on Jesus' preaching activity which can be found in the Bible.

You know these unnecessary SOCIAL COMPARISONS SUCK! AND ARE DEGRADING!!!! Prince has been blessed with a Magic Well, and nobody can take that from him! He has it like Michael did because the ALMIGHTY wanted him to have it! When a man dies ALL OF HIS TALENTS AND ABILITIES--THOUGH REMEMBERED--DIE WITH HIM...

I don't belive this is the case for most celebrities that are makin statements at this time.
If most of MJ's fans are feelin the pain of his passin,
then I believe that ppl that have actually spent time with him, whether it be in a studio or on a stage are sincerely feelin it too.

However MJ's death will be linked to some pretty negative stuff in the future and right now it's really good not to say anything.

I agree, and the more I see the last years of Michael's life I realize how out of touch he became. I love Mike's music, and will truly miss him, but Prince has taken care of himself while Michael really suffered a sad, tragic life and never really got past his childhood trauma and later, his addiction to prescription pain killers. Truly sad, but brilliant performer.
Prince is in complete control of his life and knows exactly who he is. There really is no comparison between the two of them. History will someday show that difference, while mainstream media may never.

its been said to be careful not to argue with a fool, cause some might not be able to tell who's who, so to those who attempted to insult my intellect because of the post, i won't dignify your asinine responses with one. the point i was making is that P has been known to say quite a few things that have been deemed insensitive and inappropriate and i feared that he would do so now. i never implied his silence was indicative of him not being saddened or touched by MJ's passing. i agree there was a mutual respect.

i KNOW the Jacksons are former JW's and I know what JW's believe about Christ (its NOT the same thing as orthodox Christianity by a long shot). these assumptions i felt compelled to reply to.

Orthodox Christianity has very little faith in the Bible, though they claim to represent it. Jehovah's Witnesses are different in that they try to adhere to it...

What an idiotic statement.

Prince has never been anything but gracious especially in the recent years regarding MJ. He even stated something akin to "MJ needs to be left alone and supported right now" during the last trial. Look at you holding Princ eup to some standard regarding everyday issues, judging him on what he says or if he says nothing. MJ has the rep of having crazy fans but this forum keeps probving Prince has some of the most idiotic. "So hopefully he'll show support..." WTF? Prince doesnt have to do a damn thing.

This is what you post about regarding MJ passing away?

Seriously: are some of you grown men? Please tell me you do not hold a job of some importance that has people's safety or livelihood at stake under your watch.

He came off as kind of homophobic.

for me personally I think that is just Prince being funny thats his sense of humour and shouldn't be taken so seriously - he certainly didn't take that situation all that seriously otherwise he wouldn't have mentioned it !!! only my opinion
