Guitar Hero and Rock band Does anyone else disagree with P's stance on this? My oldest son, after a year of Guitar Hero, has not only purchased many CD's from the series, but has started actual guitar lessons. He loves playing real guitar, and would have never even tried it if it wasn't for these games! Wake up!......Wake up!

I tend 2 disagree with a lot of what Prince does (or doesn't do!) these days...hahaha
and i do think either one of those games is an excellent way 4 "the youngsters" 2 pick up on, AND appreciate an artist or groups music...i c it in my own 8 year old! but, c'est la vie..... [Edited 6/24/09 21:58pm] he's no good to me dead!

I said it in a previous thread, its Prince's loss...I just dont buy his reasons for not taking the deal...thats total crap to me...I also know of many teens who ended up doing lessons after getting the game. I am a youth councilor on a cruise..i deal with hundreds of teens every day..we have both games onboard the ships among others, every teen male you talk to is obsessed with learning to play or getting actual lessons just because of thrill the game brings...Prince takes himself way too seriously...guitar hero or not, if one wants to learn they will take necessary steps to doing so. Guitar hero will be around long after Prince. i just cant help but think that Prince say things or make decisions just to be seen as different...ego always comes 1st in everything he decides. And he way to often contradicts himself. That being said, its his life and decision, he his Prince right?

I was so disappointed when I heard they approaced Prince to do a Guitar Hero version with his songs and he turned it down. I think it would have broadened his fan base and got people enjoying his music that ultimately may never listen to his music now. I have certainly been introduced to artists and songs on other versions of Guitar Hero and Rock Band that have inspired me to go out and seek their music. Prince would have made a perfect character for the game and it's too bad he decided against it. I can't wait for The Beatles edition to come out! 'You must first be a Prince before you can be King'

Who appointed Prince the spokesperson for "real music" anyway? He need to shut up and start making seriously cutting edge, ground breaking shit again ...then he can talk and people WILL listen (even if he's talking crap).

no i don't have a problem with him not going that route. i got in2 prince's music as a teenager and actually bought a real guitar and sheet music and learned how 2 play his songs. tho i have played both guitar hero and rock band, it doesn't compare 2 actually playing a real instrument and learning it rather than pressing buttons on a game ..
2 each their own tho man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

To me, it really doesn't matter to me what Prince does commercially. I've been a fan for so long, I will always buy his music. However, I do have to disagree with one thing. Guitar Hero will not be around long after Prince. His catalog of unreleased music is so vast, that there will be more music released after he's gone, then while he's alived. Mark my word on that!

OK, so i read what he said about saying how he thinks it's important kids learn to play a guitar, but isn't that the whole point that they play the games then it makes them want to learn how to play a real guitar ?
They could even make a replica of the cloud guitar to sell with the game, that would be awesome lol.

I agree with what Prince said about how time consuming it is to learn an instrument, although I do agree that these particular games can lead to wanting to learn the real thing.
It's never too late to get a song on there. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...
