Remember when he came out with Shockadelica as a b-side before Jesse Johnson released his new album at the time with the same name. Prince made some comment at the time about how you should have a song with the same name on a album, but yet he didn't either with Parade. It was funny though, you know Jesse had to be pissed. Shockadelica grooves!

Ummmm...yeah. The first song on that album is Christopher Tracy's Parade.

Actually if you think about it, the title of the prince WAS his name. We know the symbol, but if you watch the 3 Chains video, there's a whole shabang about him changing his name. BUT with that being said, "My Name is Prince" is a perfect juxtaposition to that idea. So really, "My Name is Prince" could be a title to that album. It's a total mind fuck/word play w/ the symbol, the name change, his real name at the time, etc.

I see your point, but Christopher Tracy's Parade was not the name of the album.

The Gold Experience had GOLD.

What's more interesting is to put the title tracks in order, and play them back to back. I once posted something on a newsgroup about this. I used "I Wanna Be Your Lover" for the PRINCE album, because it most summed up the album, to me.

Batman I used "Batdance" of course.
prince I used "My Name is Prince"
The Black Album, I think I used Le Grind.
(Don't forget stuff like THe Truth, and Kamasutra if you REALLY want a complete playlist).

At the time we didn't have crap like N.E.W.S., so I didn't have to decide on that one. Probably wouldn't anyway.

Another note....Prince usually always puts the title track as the very first or very last track. Lovesexy, Graffiti Bridge, Diamonds and Pearls being the exceptions.

If you want to be pedantic about it, be my guest. But you won't get any more "parade-like" than that song - from the fanfare intro to the march-down-the-street rhythm.

That's not the same. It has to be called The Gold Experience. Exactly. Otherwise it doesn't count. razz lol

This is how the song "Shockadelica" got its name. Jesse Johnson had an album by that title (first) and Prince couldn't believe that with a strong title like that, there wasn't a corresponding song title.

So, he made a song called "Shockadelica".

It can also be pointed out that in most cases, the title track is either first or last on the album. cool

Also, you really could count Parade, Gold, and The Vault: Old Friends 4 Sale. The names are not "exact" but they are treated as such.
