.. I'd really love to hear Mike try 'Insatiable' on .. With his falsetto, perhaps? Maybe not? I'm trying to imagine him singing it, but it's just not working for me

MJ is one of my favorite vocalist but he does not have the raw edge that prince does... Prince would have performed Bad and dirty dianna better than mj.... But I would like to hear mj attempt "until ur in my arms again".. Seems like the usual MJ sap fest.... Bang on (bar the Bad mention). I strongly prefer Prince on both counts... His vocal work is superb and he's pretty commonly considered the best live performer alive. I'd certainly MUCH rather watch Prince play the guitar than watch MJ dance and grab his crotch. And some of these songs listed, I really can't see anyone doing better Adore How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore Are you kidding me? [Edited 6/22/09 8:52am]

Why, Why, Why, It does NOT matter anyway.
Prince could do a better job on Dirty Diana... oh, wait a minute he did that first with Darlin Nikki and didn't need to hire a guitar player. -

There are very few songs that I could think of that Prince sings that Michael could pull off as well. Prince songs just fit Prince and I don't think Michael could ever pull most of P's songs off, but the few that come to mind:
1)Love (Always thought this sounded a bit like something MJ would sing anyway) 2)The Most Beatiful Girl In The World 3)Diamonds & Pearls "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ
"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always

Hmmm the question makes me wonder. Prince has done the MJ thing a few times, so how comes Mike has never done some Prince song? Maybe he would have an interesting take on something like Starfish and Coffee but better? I doubt it.
I never get the comparisons anyway. Other than being black guys who were icons in he '80s I don't see many similarities. Mike=safe Prince=edgy Mike=entertainer Prince=musician Mike=accesible Prince=enigmatic Both are excellent performers and they both have interesting vocal stylings but when I think of great vocalists I think of people like Luther. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

MJ may have done some of Prince's soppy songs justice, but not the ones with a raw edge and emotion. I actually prefer Prince as a vocalist compared to MJ because of the ability to portray emotion in so many different ways.

As mentioned above, I don't think any of Prince's greatest songs could have been done any justice by MJ singing but I guarantee you one thing. That if Prince had been MJ's songwriter throughout the 80's and 90's then MJ would have been even bigger than what he was. Prince would have kept MJ's ass on the straight and narrow and all of the Prince songs (95% of them) that the general public knows nothing about would be well known songs because MJ was always guaranteed airplay+success.
And MJ fans wouldn't have had to wait an average of 5 years for new albums. So as much as I disagree that MJ would do Prn songs better than Prn, I do believe the songs would have been huge hits for the reasons above and that Prince would be widely regarded as the greatest songwriter of his generation instead of being regarded as such amongst his fans and a handful of critics.
