"you know I like dat ass"-WONDERFUL ASS

Wonderful Ass is much more better than All My Dreams. This song should get more props then All My Dreams does by those who dig AMD. I think this was the psychedelic Revolution Prince mentioned. Best part is near the end when it all comes together with swirling guitar and synth and he goes "you know I like dat ass". That synth they use in the song..how'd they do that?

I really don't understand the praise All My Dreams gets. It's a good song but people act like it's the best shit they've ever heard or something. confuse

Wonderful Ass on the other hand... headbang That beat is infectious, 2 funky, I like the flow of the lyrics. You just wanna smack somebody's ass to that beat!!

"You say that you love me, it don't do no good,
You want me to trust you, I wish that I could,
You can not build a house with plastic wood"

Classic line. Used to love this one!!!

I think its because some like the "pop"-ness of the song..it's like a Raspberry Beret feel..and because of another reason that I will NOT mention. People aren't ready.

The reason I give All My Dreams a lot of props is because of the instrumental bridge. It's fantastic.

It was one of those songs that, however, amazed me in the beginning and lost some of its luster over time.

Wonderful Ass did the opposite. At first I found it a generic, repetitive funk riff. But I kept listening and now it's a top five favorite outtake for me!

Wonderful Ass is somewhat under-rated.

I remember having an argument about Extraloveable Vs. Wonderful Ass. ( u know who won)

Wonderful Ass, is damn damn damn damn good shit.
It has that vibe that just is dirty & funky & gives me chills when it starts coming 2 a close when he starts "U Dont Understand..." "U, Y cant U relate yeah!!!" My sex abilities yeah!!"

Damn!!!

Its one of the ones that has brought me 2 tears because it was so good. Another one thathad brought me 2 tears at a close was the original 7 minutes of Cherelle's "I Didnt Mean 2 Turn U On".

There are a couple others also
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

There is a rarely heard remix of this song (another, much longer outtake), which is just as good.

Interestingly, in his TURN IT UP survey, Per Nilsen poses the question as to whether Prince got his inspiration for 'Wonderful Ass' after hearing INXS' 'Mediate', a song that features seemingly every conceivable word that ends in "ate", with the exception of "masturbate"...

Nilsen did revise his opinion somewhat and, in TURN IT UP 2.0 he concludes both INXS and Prince might have borrowed their ideas from Bob Dylan's 'Subterranean Homesick Blues'!!!

I'm quite partial to Per but I nearly lost my respect for the guy there and then.

hahahah..the INXS one is well known to be a take on Dylans S-H Blues...even the video copped Dylans promotional film of th e song. Now if Prince copied INXS being influenced by Dylan is another story. INXS's I Need You Tonightthough is Prince influenced to infinity..the changly guitar, JB influenced thru Prince sound of it ala Kiss..Hutchences' Prince vocal seduction type whisper delivery...I bet Prince and them copied INXS copping Dylan.

All My Dreams and Wonderful Ass have nothing in common, the first is experimental, the second is an irresistible funky & sexy track , I love them both, P release them soon s'il te plaît!

"Wonderfull Ass" was recorded several times between '83'-'85' with Wendy & Lisa providing some mixing, and background vocals in L.A.

That INXS song, "I Need You Tonight/Communicate" premiered in 86-87.

I assume that this song would've been considered as a B-side like "She's Always In My Hair" was in '85' beause this incarnation of his sound was past. He and The Revolution were changing to the more eclectic sound of "ATWIAD" and "Parade".

WB and Prince probably trashed the idea of "ever" releasing it because of the title, lyrical content, the Absense of The Revolution, and time.

Remember: This is '83-85'. Tipper G. and other groups were listening to him very closely...lol
