Prince "rock in rio". Your thoughts?

What do you people make of it?

Its sorta a transitional period in his career (between "lovesexy era" and the "NPG" era), and its not suprising he bought the rights as its sub-standard (by his standard).

I have grown fond of it though. Despite the fact he is camping it up bigtime, I like "nothing compares", the long ass "thieves..." bit and even "horny pony", one of my favs, gets a rare showing. But Iam pretty sure he started with "something funky this house comes". I mean WTF? Maybe this concert was a testing ground for new material, but its an interesting and high spirited performance nonetheless. Alot of dancing/prancing by Prince to, whatever you make of that. And waaaaay to much gameboyz confused

Interesting performance? Odd? What do you make of it?

Not the best performance imo. MTV was about to broadcast Prince's performance from Rio, But Prince himself wasn't content/ not satisfied with the show so he denied MTV so send it.

He musta viewed the playback and realized it sucked LOL. I can see why, but I find it one of his more enjoyable performances.

I loved the version of Let's Go Crazy and the speech in Purple Rain.

This was the 1st Prince show I'd seen live. So it will forever be the best!
But I saw it in Argentina.

He decided to perform this show in Buenos Aires in between the two Rio gigs.
It was pretty much a spiced up version of the Nude Tour, but a lot more funky.

Tony M and crew hadnt taken over the shows just yet, so it was MUCH better than the D&P show that came afterwards. mad

Even Rosie was enjoyable. lol

It was great to hear some Graffitti Bridge tracks amoungst the classics.
cool
