Its the best 'POP' song on the album,
but not the best Prince song on the album, if you know what I mean

Private Joy is far from the best for me. Let's Work and the title track are my favorites.

I mean, Controversy itself just kills! Not only would I say it's the best track on
the album, but it's a serious contender for best Prince song period! Worth it

every song's a winner. one of the tightest albums ever made.

It's my favourite track on the album as well. I understand that the title track is one his iconic, defining songs, but I love pure pop, and this is one of Prince's best songs in that style. Not quite on the level of LRC or Raspberry Beret, but very close. It's almost on the verge of being bubblegum, and that's a-ok with me.
