Start with "Chaos&Disorder," and "The Vault." I'm sure U'll love something from the both of these. cool

Chaos & Disorder? That is one of the least popular Prince albums. It would be wise never to introduce that album to anybody.

I'm wondering by "crystal ball" are you talking about the 3 disc official or not?
As most have said, for the rockier edgier stuff...go with
The Gold Experience and Come. LOVE both these albums!
Chaos and Disorder is good too.
give "The Vault" a try, I personally LOVE it. it's in my top 5 albums. Someone said it had 0 good tracks. WHAT?!?! to me it has 0 bad tracks. Jazzy is one way to describe it but...it's not like long fluttering jazz...it's like uptempo funky jazz. (aka Prince Jazz)
good luck and let us know what you decide and what you think. smile

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Least popular doesn't mean it's a bad album though. It's the guitar record Prince fans wanted (and still want for some reason). That album was raw, rough, and definitely swaggered with the bollocks in full view. Prince's great output in the 90's was from COME through Chaos and Disorder.

Come, Gold, Exodus, Chaos - the best Prince 90's stuff, with prince strongly pulling up the rear.

1. The Gold Experience 10 - another album masterpiece
2. Come 9 - would have been a 10 with Lovesign and / or Interactive added
3. Love Symbol (prince) 9 - 4 strong singles + some others
4. D & P 9 - 5 strong singles, yes I like Cream smile
5. Graffiti Bridge 8 - yes I love the Prince-tracks on this, (most of them)
6. Emancipation 8 - the production sux, but great songs never the less
7. Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic 7 - some really great songs but also..
8. Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic 6 - a few strong songs
9. The Vault... OF4S 6 - just okay
10. Newpower Soul 5 - one of his weakest, still 3 great songs

Hey, thanks for all the replies. I am liking TGE pretty much. I also really like his experimental side, "All the Critics...", "Annie Christian", etc.
I'm just saying...

find a copy of "the dawn", the fanmade 3 cd spanning gold/chaos. now that
is what you'd call an impressive set to get into the 90s.
