do you like Prince's guitar solos from 1999 tour Prince didn't play lot of solos on 1999 tour
but all he did bother to play sounded classy. in a way sloppy on purpose and noisy but still ,very beautiful. listen to lady cab driver second solo from Detroit or extended 1999. aRE YOU A FANS of his guitar playing during 1999 era?

What it is banished? Haven't seen u around much. Although I haven't been around here in awhile myself. Good to see you're still on board with guitar related questions...Keep doing your thang, player. To answer your question: I agree with ya on the fact that nah, P doesn't play hardly any lead guitar on this tour. Which I found to be odd when I saw him in L.A and then a few days later in Long Beach. Because he played more leads on the Controversy tour. Having said that, I agree with u again regarding the little lead work that he DID do. Yeah, I thought it was cool. I think he formed the basis of what he was going to do on a much broader scale on the Purple Rain tour. At the L.A show, during Lady Cab Driver, Dez handled the solo. As well as on Automatic, Let's Work and of course on Little Red Corvette. But the part where P played a solo was on the newly added "rock section" towards the end of the song 1999. P plays a great lead run which goes into a lot of animal-like whinning Hendrixian bends. That's right before he shouts "1999!...1999!...Don't let nobody tell u what to do!...1999!". Just the lttle that he did on lead guitar for the whole show, it STILL sounded impressive and to me, very polished. The two shows I attended, his lead runs in that section of the song was very tight. Not sloppy at all. Again, he was clearly playing scales that would dominate solos like on the God instrumental and Another Lonely Christmas. [Edited 6/20/09 23:43pm] That's right. I only have 2 1999 boots and both of those I was very impressed with that section. I know this thread is more about P's lead, but I love what dez brought to his songs live. They the distorted guitar made his songs more of a funk rock workout, like on the homecoming show, after they do do me, baby and go into sexuality, amazing
