I haven't heard this album in a while, and when i played it for the first time in years,, this song really hit me hard..now i can't stop listening to it..it is simply beautiful..it really isnt mentioned alot..who else likes it??

it's a fantastic song, so lush and atmospheric. a key moment in Prince's history IMO--points toward where he would go with Parade, and how far he had come from doing slight variations on the same theme in DM and Controversy.

Such a good song! Some of Prince's most heart breaking lyrics.

One of my all time let down's was when I got the One Nite Alone box set and it listed "Condition of the Heart." I got it home only to realize I'd been had.

This song is in my top 5 of Prince songs(released,Bside,unreleased)

I have to listen to this song all the way thru, yes, it takes you somewhere else

feels like a large room with big windows in the country or city could be anytime of the day but feels like dawn or twilight

I've said it before but this song was some configuration of the Under the Cherry Moon movie script

the instrumental intro is so emotional the synthesizers, keyboards & piano, finger cymbals, bass drums

This is truly a genius of a song....

Great piece. The intro and the feel of it throughout are straight Stevie Wonder. I think this was Prince's take on Stevie's 1970s genius.

A colossal, magnificent song & one of my all-time fab faves. Extraordinary singing, an ethereal melody, weird-in-the-best-Prince-way lyrics. A career highlight.

When I was a kid & the album first came out I always used to skip it. Now I'm older & a little smarter & it's probably my favourite track on the album.

Absolutely love this one. First time i listened to ATWIAD this track was a stand out for me. Such a sad & beautiful song and such great emotion Prince puts into it.
