pplrain said: DesireeNevermind said: Stastistically it is true. For every old man you know who has a healthy kid (no doubt by a younger woman or even possibly with fertility help) there is another old man who has a child with special needs or short term health problems. http://www.ivf1.com/male-...fertility/ Older men cause infertility Couples with fertility problems where the male is over 40 have increased difficulty in conceiving. We know reproductive health is associated with age. Most studies and findings focus on the female age as the determining factor for a successful, healthy pregnancy. While it is true that most miscarriages are due to chromosomal abnormalities and that this is attributed to the age of a female egg, recent findings suggest that the male age has something to do with infertility and miscarriage rates more than previously thought. Age and Male Reproduction Men can reproduce at almost any age because they never stop making sperm. Women, on the other hand, are born with all the eggs they will ever have. This means that the eggs age as the woman ages, which can increase the risk for chromosomal abnormalities in an embryo. Although the risk for sperm chromosomal abnormalities does not increase as men age, the potential for DNA damage does increase as men age. Sperm are produced from stem cells in the testicles that must keep dividing. In order for the cells to divide, the DNA in these cells must divide as well. Because the DNA is dividing to a larger extent, the chances for a genetic mutation occurring increase over time. Combine this with older females chances for reproductive success and the outcomes for a successful pregnancy are quite low. A study completed in 2002 found that the risk of miscarriage increased in older men but only when the women were also older. Other Factors affecting male fertility Other age related factors could contribute to a male’s sperm production and quality. The incidence of vascular diseases, accumulation of toxic substances, and infections all increase with age. Infections actually have been shown to significantly lower sperm counts when compared to men with normal function. Erectile dysfunction could be another cause of male infertility, as this problem also increases with age. A number of studies have also found an increase in the risk of several types of diseases in children who are born to older men . Paternal Effect At a recent conference for the European Society of Human Reproduction (ESHRE) in Barcelona, Spain, Dr. Stephanie Belloc of the Eylau Centre for Assisted Reproduction presented results of a new study regarding the effect of male age on fertility. The study observed a decrease in pregnancy rates and an increase in miscarriage when the father is over 40. For the first time, a strong paternal effect on reproductive outcomes was discovered shut up already.... U forgot "DAMN!!!" I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh

No really, one has to trust nature a little more. Plus these days we have all the scientific/technological progress. consider the following: Prince broadcasted his expected fatherhood back then making it a public matter, writing songs and putting out videos. When baby Gregory was on his death bed, Prince lied to the public and tried to make everything okay when he could have just kept quiet Its been several years and Prince has moved on and is no longer held captive by what happened Lastly, there may be many a Prince fan who is undergoing or has undergone a similar loss and to say it shouldn't ever be discussed may make it harder on them. Losing a child is nothing to be ashamed of. I agree. Sounds as if people here never talk about people that have died. So if a family member dies you pretend as if nothing happened and don't mention the person ever again? Then again, this is not exactly the same and I don't know what more could be said about this subject. Maybe he will, maybe he won't. Hopefully fear is not the only thing keeping him from it. He could always adopt. Sometimes I think that's a better idea than just putting even more people into this world.

No one said anything about anyone being ashamed of anything....let's not go there ok. Oi...this thread is/was actually about the future not the past...which is why I didn't personally have an issue with it. To keep the thread on topic lets stick to the future. Brangelina and Madge did so why not Prince? And nope, losing a child or any loved one is nothing shameful and why not talk about it. Past, present, future is all intertwined. Will he have a kid? Does he want one? Maybe or maybe not. And its okay to talk about it cuz he's a man, human like everyone else. Plus he's a mega celebrity so nothing is really sacred.

He almost certainly already has a few, if not several. The public just don't know it. Few sexually active males of his age don't have children unless there's some fertility issue there, which clearly there isn't w/ him. When you add rock star from the mid 70s onwards, that raises the odds considerbly.
My answer is, he does, but we just don't know about it.
