That definition has nothing to do with morality. There is no assumption there. Any assumption is one that you applied yourself.

It means you sleep with multiple partners on a casual basis. You either do that or you don't. If you do, you're promiscuous. What's the big deal anyway?

It's not a big deal. Or, it shouldn't be. But it's no secret how most people think of so-called promiscuous people, or that they think even less of promiscuous women than men. The negative emotions don't need to be right in the dictionary to still be implicit. Sluts aren't exactly celebrated.

Seriously, so what? It is what it is...why even try to change the meaning?

I'm not. I know I can't change it, I just don't use the same definition myself. IMO actions that are sexually or emotionally irresponsible are much worse than just screwing around a bit.

By using it yourself in a different way you are changing it.

Anyway, I still don't get how Prince's explicit lyrics have anything to do with promiscuity.

I like the "nasty" stuff, but I'm not by any means at all promiscuous. I have a boyfriend whom I am faithful to.

But we do listen to Princey and I do get a tad flirty. biggrin

And I like it when Prince is a trash mouth and acts like a whore. It's one of the reasons I dig him now, because he was so bad and against the grain. biggrin

Right on Prince! Right on!
I love a Man who:
Wears More Make Up Than Me.
Wears Four Inch Stilleto Boots.
Changes His Name To An Unpronouncable Symbol.
Who Changes His Name Back From An Unpronouncable Symbol.
Oh And Most Importantly, Who Is Sexy Little Drop Of Butterscotch

I usually find that people who make the correlation between loving Prince songs and being promiscuous to be very ignorant about a lot things.

And no I personally don't just get a big thrill out of sexually suggestive (thanks, violetblues) lyrics, just because they are suggestive. I'm picky, very picky.

Just wondering... are you guys also promiscuous? boxed

I'm not innocent

... but I love sexually explicit music and I also wish people would not look at me strangely when I admit I love Prince music. mad

I also like sexually explicit comedians... boxed Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle

DITTO i mostly find the song lyrics and the comedic performances funny and humorous. I think it is an art for some singers, writers and commedians to communicate sexual themes explicitly and not gross us all out or offend anyone cuz boy can people be easily offended.

I love Prince's sexually explicit music because I love everything about him.

I am not promiscuous...I am single, celibate, and stay out of the bars. cool

It's fun to sing about sexy good times, but after awhile you want to have those times with someone you trust and love forever

The way prince brings sex across in his songs is so appealing to me because spirituality and sexualtity goes hand in hand!
In his songs the lyrics are never degrading but rather uplifting and sacred!

Nah... For me it's all about the music... not so much the lyrics. The sexual lyrics are usually fine with me... sometimes I do find it a bit distracting...

But a lot of the great music with Prince seems to happen with the explicit lyrics... shrug So I don't know if you can have one without the other.

I agree

as a 15year old Girl in the 80's of course i was facinated by Prince. I even lost my virginity while "Lady Cab Driver" was playing.
Now i love Prince mainly for the music, whereas in the long distant past it was for his weirdness, shocking lyrics and the fact he was so different from anything else at that time.
