What song, to you, most succinctly represents what is the "Minneapolis Sound"?

or album?

I certainly don't think MPLSOUND has that honor. If anything, I think it'd be one of the jams on 1999, like DMSR or Automatic.

I wouldn't classify that whole album. To me, the MPLSOUND encompasses so many different elements. It's not just Prince. People credit him for establishing one, but Jam and Lewis are just as instrumental.

Yeah Jam and Lewis, Andre Cymone, Jesse Johnson, etc...had huge parts in the "sound" but it was something that Prince first established and took it to the next level with these theree albums and following tour. I think that set everything else up (Purple Rain, various solo projects, etc....)

i dont know, i didn't create it, only Prince knows. But, if i were to guess, DMSR, 1999, Dance 4 Me, Stroke, Chocolate Box, Some Timbaland work, Neptunes work, Nasty Girl, Future Baby Mamma, Black Sweat, Wild n Loose, Ol' School Company.....would be among my picks.

i'd have to add to the classic trinity-the time's ice cream castles-i probably listened to that as much as PR back in the day. Still love that album.Incidentally Listened to Pandemonium too yesterday-man that album is sooooo good too.

To me, Prince didn't really come into his own sound (for lack of a better word) until he did 1999. I would think something like "DMSR", "1999" or "Lady Cab Driver" could classified the essence of the MPSOUND.
