Disc 3 a Big Hit Among Non-Prince Fans!!

I brought disc 3 into a local Chicago neighborhood tavern and asked the bartender to play it. He replied, "You always bring in the worst music for me to play." He looked at it and said, "Prince?" He said that the only good thing he saw from Prince since Purple Rain was "Rave Unto The Year 2000". (I personally think Rave is crap compared to what my experiences have been at his concerts). He reluctantly put it on. It was well received. The bartender told me he was going to keep the cd. I told him to buy it Dec 17. Almost everyone was bobbing their heads to it. One guy at the golf video game was dancing to it. These people that hang out at the bar are big classic rock fan forty somethings. If they knew it was Prince they probably would have had a different attitude. Peach seemed to be the favorite.

I think this box set is going to get a lot of critical acclaim.

COMON

Its very true, your comment about their attitude being different if they knew it was Prince.

I think a lot a lot of people never hear hos music because of teh way he dresses, the way he's perceived and the way he's portrayed in the press.

I workd in an internet cafe for a few months and used to play my Prince stuff all the time.

People would say to me 'whats this?' - how they didn't recognise at least his voice I'll never know-

and alot of folks like what they heard.

There you go!

Well, as a Prince fan, I'm still having quite a hard time
with disc 3.

I like "Joy In Repetition", which is awsome, and "Dorothy"
and "Peach" are very cool. Esp the piano/keys on "Dorothy"
are excellent.

But the rest of the disc? I don't like it at all. Don't get
me wrong, the music is good, but when you think of all the
material out there that could have ended up on this

Dolphin
Beautiful Strange
Calhoun Sq
I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man
All The Critics Love You In N.Y.
Days Of Wild

Not to mention what the box set could have been like if he'd
had included portions of the european tour [empty room, and
whole lotta love, can anyone say NIGHTTOWN "Bambi" razz ?]

it is just beyond me why the Clinton and Musique songs were
included. Yes, ok, it is part of the aftershow vibe and they
do give a nice performance but it just takes the flow out
of the disc completely. It stops right after "Joy" and
doesn't start up again until "Peach".

The only thing I can do with this is cut it up, insert my
own bootleg killer guitar jams from other shows in it and
mix it all together again. The way it is now, I know that
I won't play it many times.

To cut a very long, nay saying story quite short, no I
would not even consider letting anybody else listen to
this disc.

Co-sign, my thoughts exactly, unfortunately. Musiq shoulda been left out! I'm also a bit disappointed in disc 2, there is just too much sing-along by the audience...that works when you're there but doesn't on cd!

Why!?

I've heard Prince music at the grocery store, now I wonder if maybe a fam actually brought the cd along and had them play that stuff.

You know, that's what I did with my set. I kept disk one pretty much the way it is with the exception of moving around some tracks for a better flow. I liked nothing on disc 2. As far as I am concermned he ruined my all time favorite song, Anna Stesia, with that that hip hop crap. That song needed a choir. Disc 3, ahm, Dorthy Parker makes the cut. But I looove disk 1. Am I. like mental or something?
