Reading...

I was at www.MJBoard.com reading and found this...

"Here's my little Prince experience.

Never was a big fan of the man myself, but back in April, I bought his latest album, "The Rainbow Children," and enjoyed it very much. I own a few of his other albums and have seen "Purple Rain" enough times in my youth to admire the man for what he is: a great musican who contributed alot to 80s music.

Anyway, I thought for sure that I would have a good time at his "One Night Alone" concert in Dallas, but unfortunately that was not to be the case (and no, it had nothing to do with the two tornados that torn the mess out of parts of the city unbeknowest to my friends and I).

Maybe I should start off with the highlights (and trust me, there aren't many).

First of all, Prince is a wiz on the guitar. No question about it. He has alot of energy for a dude his size (tiny tiny tiny).
Second of all, his band was "off the hook." The guy on the drums (a very large black man) could handle those sticks like a wizard. The guy on the keyboard was excellent (although his frequent "humping" of his instrument was a bit disturbing. And the lady on the sax was the best of all; she should get her own show one day.
Third of all, I liked the art direction and the set design of the stage. Simple is always better.

And now for everything else...

Lame. Lame LAME!

Prince may be a great songwriter and he may be good with musical instruments, but his voice stinks live in my opinion. He can moan and groan nicely enough, but that's about it.
Also, the man can't dance. That needs to be understood clearly. He wiggles and fondles himself somewhat, but that's as far as his dancing talent goes.
I was also very disappointed that he hardly performed any of his past hits. No "Purple Rain." No "Let's Go Crazy." No "Kiss." No "I Would Die 4 You." No "Little Red Corvette." No "1999." Just an endless string of new songs that half the audience was unfamilar with and covers of other people's songs.

Talking with a couple of fans in the lobby of the music hall after the concert, I discovered some things that I found rather shocking.
Apparently, Prince became a Jehovah's Witness awhile back and because of his religious beliefs, not only is he not allowed to curse in public (he didn't at the concert; not ONCE), but he's also not premited to perform any of his "sexually charged" songs or any that a Jehovah's Witness might deem inappropriate. He's become sort of a prude. His squeemishness over cursing is silly. I mean, this is a guy who once wrote and composed a song called "Jack U Off," and now he won't even say the "f" word anymore? Come on!

That said, to me, Prince has turned into a "square." If he was a big thing in the 80s, he's not much of anything today. Half the audience was gone a little more than half way thru the show."

Anyway, nothing exciting. I just found it amusing.

AND THIS IS WHAT I FOUND:

PRINCE is a great singer, musician and songwriter, not to forget producer.
Prince is a great a performer as Micheal and Madonna, lets not forget this is a man, who plays every single instrument and sings every vocal harmony.
His signature moves(Splits, Bumps and Grinds, sliding across the stage as peter pan would across thin air)
Prince is the MAN!

His music has been a highlight for the 80's decade and he's brought us some of the sexiest and sultry ballads known to soul and r/b.
Prince shines on his guitar as a beacon of some sort of magical theatrical god!

His showmanship as an entertainer has been nothing but amazing...he's responsible for some of music greatest staged spectacles across the globe, from Europe, Japan to America.

Can we say "LOVESEXY"!!!
Prince's latest Music from the ONE NIGHT ALONE SHOWS, details an artist whose mature and prolific as ever, he's not Mr. Raunchy or The Purple Fetish Prince, he is incredible the musician who displays his ability to be one of the greats on piano since little richard and Jerry lee lewis.

Whomever disses his ability as a great singer and performer now-a-days, have more of a personal issue with Prince.
Prince's vocals are in Tip-Top Shape as if you were listening to his records in the theatre.
His dancing is Jazzy and well orchestrated w/ the music.
His presence is felt and his sound is piercing and sparkling like the haley's comet in space.

PRINCE IS GREAT!
.PERIOD.
