Scandalous Sex Suite/Kim Bassinger

How much better would it be without Kim? The "sexy" interplay between them is terrible and spoils the epic scope of this EP.

Musically it's great but her placement on the CD reeks of boasting that he's intimate with a filmstar. As for the little crying with pleasure sample of her voice (Also used on Peach)... well it's just wack and annoying.

Your thoughts? smile

It does sound shit on Peach. Please tell me it's not used on the Aftershow version!!!

As for the rest of it, what is on this EP exactly? Is this where the song "Sex" comes from? That track is fucking brilliant, I love that son of a...

While we're talking about this EP, the beginning guitar solo of part 3 blows me away.

This is one of the few 20 min prince songs i can listen to from start to finish effortlessly because it goes down to smooth. Its hypnotic, but with beautiful guitar work and echoing vocals.

as corny as the Kim Bassinger bits are, the extended version is so much better than the regular album cut.

he didn't really do all that much too it, but why do i hate the album version but love the SSS?

I think her lttle crying thing almost sounds like prince himself
I think he used her sound to the best of its ability. It still has the strangeness that the rest of the album has, it has not just an eroticness but a sadomaschist sound to it I think its perrrfect

actually, to me, that crying part sounds like the scene from Purple Rain where he and Apollonia are in the basement listening to that girl.

i actually listened to the SSS today, and i didn't notice the bit sampled in Peach.

The original Scandalous is so so; the Sex Suite is phenomenal! And though I can't stand her, I think Bassinger actually adds something cool to the song...

She's eccentric, whiny, over-the-top, corny and faux-sexy -- the exact same quirky appeal that Scandalous has. Scandalous is rich with the whole campy, almost sleazy, old-Hollywood film noir atmosphere, and Bassinger's cheezy ass is the perfect prop!

Now Parts II and III are pure ART!!! And, appropriately, Bassinger is nowhere to be found in the larger parts of these beautiful sections.

All in all, I think it works out really well!

By the way, have you all heard her totally DESTROY Soul Psychedelicide?!?
