Charting means nothing other than for someone's music preference. So who needs to care?

I see what you're saying, and I've heard it before. However, my thing is that it certainly wouldn't hurt to get something out there. He should at least try to release a single before dismissing radio as an option. I agree with you that the money goal has been achieved, but I don't think he can really say he's done enough to get it out there to his max audience. Urban AC has always been very supportive of his music. Just release something official to them and see what happens. Even without a major label, it can't hurt to see what happens. Also, with two videos made, why not push them to VH1 or BET. Again, it can't hurt. I'm sure there are other options. He's a creative guy. He can think of something if he wants to. Too bad. I really love this project. It deserves more exposure.

PHOENIX AND GRIZZLY BEAR WOOO

otherwise, I mean, it's got no singles that get played

and hell it's not a good album.

But the sales are impressive considering it's only available through one retail outlet.

Urban AC and BET could play the videos and the music if they wanted to. They don't want to.

It would be easier if it were officially released and pushed by him first. A coordinated effort wouldn't hurt. Say he's releasing it as an e-single and (maybe) do a couple of radio interviews and then we'll know for sure. "Going for Adds" instead of waiting for others to decide is the better way to go.

Sales increased 41% this week to almost 10K- the ten-week total is a little over 350,000.

The album climbs 72 - 51 on the Billboard 200, and up to 10 on the R&B album chart.

Anyone know what caused this increase?

God, I hope this is a sign of increased consumer sending in general.

If not, who even knows. Maybe it's selling based on word-of-mouth? It's a great value for a great set of music.

Maybe some european or asian stores ordered some copies. It isn't officially available anywhere else.

If Prince doesn't care about charts, why did he talk about sales of the album being missing from the count during Tavis' interview? Tavis was basically complimenting Prince's ability to hit no.2 on the charts without the help of a major label. Prince totally shrugged off the compliment and ranted about a portion of the sales being missing from the Soundscan totals, as if it were some sort of conspiracy. If he truly doesn't care about charts, he wouldn't have done this.

he has to make a living and in my perspective he's doing it by satisfying fans without the middle man involved...besides, i like it when prince gets paid, he's doing the work.

Not considering it was only available at Target and many who got it thru Lotusflow3r didn't bother with buying the CDs as well.

If you consider the fact that these are worldwide sales, because a lot of people all over the world bought an import, then I would call it a flop.

I don't think worldwide sales account for all that much. Only the hardcore would really know about it, and they might aswell sign up to the website rather than spend 2/3 as much money on the import.

Most hardcore fans are collectors who want a physical copy, whatever it costs.

I dont understand all the dismay?

The Album is a complete FLOP...sure its negativity but
deservedly so.. it wasnt marketed, 1 commercial- 1 place to buy.
A new website that is horrible and overpriced to join + FREE T-shirt..LOL!
1 Music Video
No single released
Jay Leno isnt the ONLY TV show on TV regardless of friendship
Thus proves in the end..Prince isnt that popular anymore.
GMAN

Is this a sarcastic statement? hmm
It has to be right?
1 commercial, 1 place to buy, 1 music video, no single released,
and u say his album a complete flop???
If u take the marketin into consideration & the album sales movin up,
it definitely isn't a flop.
So your statement was sarcastic right confused
I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh
