I've always been curious about the song Girl. Was this a third song with the same title, or the B-Side I wonder.

I was so excited to be part of picking these songs at the Celly. Wish that this CD set saw the light. There was also a chance to choose which album Prince should release next. Anyone have that list?

If I remember correctly, some choices were:

Madrid 2 Chicago Album
Guitar or Rock Album
Piano or Acoustic Album
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Yes - rock guitar album won as well.

The problem with the list was that it said the Kiss version was an unreleased item, but didn't tell you anything about Girl.

Whilst it was quite exciting to be able to choose that week, the week was also so half-organised that you half-expected that nothing would come of it.

I remember sitting down at the computer thinking Prince either believes we have all heard these unreleased tracks so we can exercise some judgement, or we are being asked to pick a tracklisting from names alone???? That probably means it makes no difference what I now key in the computer - either it's never going to happen ... or he's already decided what the answers will be.

I also thought the charity sales were odd affairs. here they were selling off old Paisley stock of promos and relative rarities to fans for really low prices for charity, when they could raise a fortune if they thought about it a little. Instead some people were shrewdly buying 10 promos for $10 and then selling them on at $20+ an item to cover their travel and hotel expenses that week.

And then the bizarre decision to stage an event to which he invites a thousand fans to his studio but puts on live entertainment in a room in which only several hundred of them are allowed in!!!

I didn't now that.

True.

Whilst it was quite exciting to be able to choose that week, the week was also so half-organised that you half-expected that nothing would come of it.

The event didn't even seem understaffed. It did seem as if they were winging it, though. Everyone at Paisley seemed genuinely happy to have the fans there.

That probably means it makes no difference what I now key in the computer - either it's never going to happen ... or he's already decided what the answers will be.

Deep down, I had a feeling nothing would come out of these projects. I was especially certain that if the fans picked one thing, Prince would go with whatever he wanted anyway.

The sales tables were crazy at times. They could have made more money, definitely. I know that I ended up with a ton of stuff I didn't need (and still have), but the money went to a good cause in the end.

And then the bizarre decision to stage an event to which he invites a thousand fans to his studio but puts on live entertainment in a room in which only several hundred of them are allowed in!!!

That was extremely frustrating. The L4OA room was way too small, and hot as hell. I only watched the Macy Gray concert. I can't take that heat. Do you remember them stopping the Macy Gray show to find out who stole the sign for one of Prince's suits hanging up in the soundstage? People were getting pissed at what seemed to be a pretty petty situation.

... And wasn't that the case too, that the tracklist had already been decided on? (I may possibly recall reading, IIRC, maybe, ish).

The release date. It came and went, that's all. I wish he had "souled" the set to us. wink

Me, too. Now it's been ten years since we last got something from the vault. (The Vault... Old Friends 4 Sale and the Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic title track in 1999). I say it's about time we got some more. biggrin
