The Max

this song is really stuck in my head lately. where would you rank it in terms of the other songs on the Symbol album?

It's a bit housey for my tastes. Not my favourite but has its moments (the Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic guitar solo), and the house piano motif throughout is catchy at least.
Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

I love Tony M's rapping on The Max... biggrin

Just kidding, sorry wink

seriously I believe these 11 trax are the strong songs on the prince album:

My Name Is Prince
Sexy MF
Love 2 The 9's
The Morning Papers
I Wanna Melt With U
The Continental
Damn U
7
And God Created Woman
3 Chains O' Gold
The Sacrifice Of Victor

the opening 4 songs are my fave, a really great 'sequense' imo...

yeah, i never said it was a favorite, only that it was stuck in my head. sometimes mediocre songs can do that...

datdude

i'd place it BEHIND
The Continental
The Morning Papers
Love 2 The 9's
God Created Woman
7
Sweet Baby
Blue Light

but AHEAD of
Sexy MF & My Name is Prince (the rapping ruins BOTH of these)
The Flow, Arrogance, (wacktacular filler)
The Sacrifice of Victor
3 Chains of Gold

The version of The Max performed during the tour (i guess it was played everywhere besides Detroit) for this album was a sublime, groovier remix that makes me want to dig around the underground for it.

I loved this song! It calls you to the dance floor. The performance on the ACT I tour was awesome and had an extended ending, like performed on the Arsenio Hall show. The whole album had a lot of danceable tunes. Loved it!

I definitely like the song like all of them on the "Symbol," album...although there are some really great songs on that album for "The Max," to compete with. cool
"The Lion Sleeps Tonight...
