i wouldn't even feel right watching a 50 year old wearing a bikini and leg warmers. An think about it most rockstars from the 80's or 70's who still do dat dumb dressing dont even get acknowledge anymore like:Kiss still get seen but will never sell another million albums

Does it feel right watching a 22 year old in tights and leg warmers? biggrin

You are right, Im glad he's matured, as have I. 27 years later he's still singing about things I care about.
cool

He never did that past 1981 anyway, really. Not all the time. He did have a singlet he wore in 1983 at First Avenue with a trench coat, but he became more clothed w/ a shirt and tie by the time Controversy was touring.

If a person is in shape and still looks good, why would age matter, 50 isn't wrinkled and decrepid... Prince still looks like he is in his 30's so why does 50 matter

You call it dumb dressing but that is a part of the game. That's what went with the territory.
Do you know if Kiss hasn't sold a million? They probably have
And they are KISS
Entertainers shouldn't look like everyday folk

I love that at 50 Madonna still has a body worth showing off, why not
I don't want to see Prince in plain suites and ties, the more boring the clothing the more boring the music at times

He doesn't have to wear a bikini brief but that's what he/they did to shake things up back then. ...I remember back then Prince saying something about having to do a lot of bike riding nude...

I love Prince in the ruffled shirts the man heels some make up and a bit more hair I love his Purple Rain - Lovesexy looks He's Prince man

Anyone who disrespects those early years, doesn't understand the foundation of Prince, Purple Music, Uptown, Erotic City
There was a thread not long ago where a couple of young bucks were saying something to the affect of Prince not getting any respect from the 'homeboys' if he was around them with the Lovesexy look.

I'm like who care? Prince is Around the World in a Day man, don't disrespect his persons by equating him with 'going no where homeboyz on the freakin block'

That's what's wrong with Pop music now anyway, conformity and clones abound everywhere

You would be embarrassed, not Prince
Rod Stewart dressed like Prince or should I say Prince dressed similar to Rod Stewarts 60s 70s look too

Most of the real fans appreciate Prince's difference.

And he did wear something a bit similar during Lovesexy

I don't mind the suites but I don't like it when it doesn't look like Prince
Sometimes he looks so confined
He's always worn suites but they were always Prince's out in the earlier days
I even like the Musicology uneven suites

thumbs up!
Nice one.

Actually, I put on a bikini and trench coat last night and danced around to Dirty Mind. Very liberating. Felt surprisingly good, but I wouldnt want to do it in front of a crowd.
Look for the youtube clip next week. lol

Right - Prince is smarter than all of them because he recognizes that even though his young image is what made him famous, even he couldnt - and shouldnt - do it forever. YOu look like a relic if you are clinging to what broke you through 25 years ago. Remember how ridiculous James Brown looked in the 90s and 00's still holding onto the clothes and hair? How stupid would Hendrix look if he were still alive playing with his teeth and setting the axe on fire in his 60s? Even Rick James played himself a little in trying to maintain that superfreak thing with a gut that looked like he was 8 months pregnant and a good number of miles on him.

Geniuses - like Miles Davis - recognize the world around them and manage to adjust and find their place in it to bring new and innovative to the table. Miles was a cool in the 90s as he was in the 50s because he knew how to stay new while maintaining his individual creativity. I think Prince has modeled himself after Miles to this extent.

People badmouth Prince's work in the 90s but never stop and count Diamonds and Pearls or the Symbol album or Gold Experience or Chaos and Disorder or Emancipation - and recognize the transformation over those albums. Each is distinctively different. Prince has never rested on his past accomplishments - Around the World in a Day was proof of that over 20 years ago. He could have easily released Purple Rain 2 to exploit a career landmark (MJ did just that with Bad). Prince, like Miles used to, courageously struck out in a different direction despite the fact that he would "lose" a good number of those fake Prince fans that had jumped on the purple bandwagon in 84.

Prince has grown and evolved as an artist and a person. It is fascinating to watch now that he is free to do as he pleases. In many ways, this is truly the most prolific period of the joyride that has been his long career in music.
