P was like a God for you? Something about P’s expression in the new pics reminded me of when I fell in love with P and his music when I was a teen. During this obsessive period he seemed somewhat god-like to me, as it was the peak of his early career around 86/7 and he just seemed superhuman…*
Did anyone else go through this ‘P is God’ phase? *I know this sounds a bit sycophantic but I’m now 37 and a respectful hater

God-like...no! But he was close! From 84 to 88, I slept at the foot of my bed, so the posters of him, I had on the wall over my bed were the first thing I saw in the mornings and the last thing I saw at night. Yeah, I had it bad for his stank butt!
Now I'm 39 and a not so respectful hater! I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I don't think I've ever perceived him that way. But he creates divine music. He's a human, but the music he makes is something special. His talent seems to be supernatural. But there are many creative and taleted people whose gift isn't recognized becuase they're not in the show business, they are not famous, but they are artists at what they do. Still, they're not perfect. What they create is/might be. [Edited 5/23/09 2:30am]

That had to be an amazing experience... Damn, maybe I'd have a slightly different opinion if I had seen him perform live

my friend in hghschool was infatuated with him. she said he was her God and if he died she would kill herself. oddly enough she is now barely a fan and I love the man. ~leggO my Ego

i would never say that Prince was God like for me...it was more like a relation..i have allways related to what he's said..or understood some of the things he's done..his lyrics to majority of his music, his visions, his style..i have allways related to..god like..no..but i'm glad that he's somewhere here on earth
I adore him..and want nothing but the best 4 him... even if i never meet him personally... It is crazy how u can feel soo close 2 a person you have never even met.. but even as a teen..i would just see him as a close friend i couldnt find in anyone else around me..HE gave me that extra push 2 be original and true to myself,,even if it means dissapointing another dance on!! Marry me 2day and 2night we'll make love until the world stops turning

Yeah, I'll cop to that one. There was a time where I thought he could do no wrong. But it's understandable. I mean, for a long time he certainly DID no wrong musically. |

No. I was a grown-up when Prince appeared on the scene. I didn't have any Tiger Beat feelings for him. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Now I'm 39 and a not so respectful hater! LOL, I had so many posters, you'd think it was wallpaper... including on the ceiling; it didn't matter where I fell asleep I painted all my bedroom furniture purple and had tons of satin and lace. We're about the same age and even though the posters and purple furniture are gone, I'm mature enough to know he is NO god, but I'm definitely no hater! http://prince.org/msg/105/307615

I never had posters everywhere but I did have two live white doves and had black lace draped around their cage. Those were the most gentle and tame doves. I had them for years until I just finally got sick of cleaning their cage. Those things could shit some stacks. I never realized how attached I had become to them until I took them and gave them to the Animal Rescue League, cage and all. I was so scared they would put them to sleep that I went back for them. Someone had adopted them already and was very excited about getting them so I was happy for them. Andy is a four letter word.

What were Prince's doves names? divinity and something? I remember him saying one of them was named Divinity but I can't remember the other one's name. My doves' names were Ike and Tina. I kept hoping to see an egg in the cage but that never happened. The male was constantly behind the other dove going up and down and coo-ing. He even jumped on the other dove's back a few times. I thought she just wasn't interested. I read somewhere about determining their sex by the way their feet look or something. I can't remember but I do remember looking and finding out I had two males. The funny thing is, one of the birds was constantly trying to get sex from the other bird and the other one would fight him off. I guess he thought he was in prison or something and about to get raped. Ain't that something? A gay dove! Well hell, look who the owner was. Andy is a four letter word.

That is why for the life of me I can not understand homophobia! Attraction to the same sex is not a learned behavior! I know this because I've had animals of the same sex that I've seen getting it on! Not that I'm into watching animals get it on...gay or otherwise...but I do know when you see it...it makes you stop for a moment or two or three or maybe even four and go...DAMN! I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

What cracks me up is when I think of what the other dove was thinking while all this was going on. I'm talking about the dove that was always getting jumped on from behind. One day I actually thought they were going to fight up in that cage. And all he could do was take it and try squirm his way to the other side of the cage. But he couldn't go nowhere because he was trapped in that damn cage. It must have been like prison to him. And the bird that was jumping on his back was just as happy as he could be. The look in his eyes when that gorilla stuck it up his ass, is the same look that bird used to get when the other bird was coo-ing up behind him. He looked just like this..... . . . I could just kick the shit out of myself when I see the ridiculously popular crazy shit that people tape their animals doing and posting! I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.
