KAMASUTRA I finally forced myself to listen to Kamasutra.
Although I wasn't completely turned off by it, I can say comparisons between Prince and Mozart probably should be put to bed. It's really boring and repetitious! Did Prince write this thing in its entirety? What were the original plans for it? What was he thinking exactly? Honestly, an instrumental version of Parade would have blown this out of the water. This thing is remarkably boring! I like 2 songs: The Plan, and Kamasutra/Eternal Embrace And even then, I don't necessarily love those songs. The later having an ever-so slightly Beethoven-esch vibe ala Moonlight Sonata but without any payoffs.

I can't remember what it sounds like tbh, I don't think I've listened to it since I fist got the cassette from 1800NF, not sure I ever played the CD that came with CB.
I might pop it on the ipod and give it a whirl, if my ears fall off I'm coming back to this thread for compensation.

I'm guessing he wrote it with the "ballet" of Mayte's NPG Dance company in mind. Maybe it was an organic thing (do you think he and Mayte worked together with the dancers to make it all fit?), or maybe it was just Prince noodling away on his own again and then telling Mayte this is what you and your team will dance to? Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

It makes nice background music in my classroom. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"
