Prince at Dakota Jazz Club Last Night to see Roy Hargrove I just got an email from the Dakota Jazz Club. It was mostly to address a rumor that Ruben Blades was performing tonight but it included this bit "If Ruben is planning to surprise us, no one has told us. (We aren't always told everything. Prince didn't tell us he was coming in last night for the Roy Hargrove show. But we think we'd know about this one.)" Hmmm... this is in downtown Minneapolis so if he is in town of course he could always make a surprise appearance at the Cabooze on Friday.....? But I would not get my hope up.

He needs to get the hell out of that club and focus on Lotu$flower.com, IMHO.

It was mentioned a few months ago, can't remember if it was direct from Prince's camp on Dr Fb site or or an assumption on our part that Prince was to have one last big "event" in LA before returning to MPLS. Of course that big blow-out event never really occurred anyway (unless it was a 77 Beverly Park celeb only all-nighter), and he seems to have remained in LA up til now... Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

And the fact that he told Larry Graham and his family he would "be home soon" hes just havin "a good time" out in LA right now on the Tavis interview.

Co-sign ... I'll be in Mpls tomorrow, I doubt I'll see him around town but the show at Caboze and Bunkers this weekend may be the spots to be. Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

Screw his address, he went to see Roy Hargrove!
Important here is, did he see his trio or did he go to see the RH Factor (the funksoul outfit). I always found Roy's 2003 album Hardgroove to be very similar to 'The Rainbow Children' in style and sound. I think it's a very good thing to see Prince getting into Roy's music. They match in so many ways. Roy could bring a lot to the table for Prince' sound and songwriting. Great news! And by the way, Mpls is only for the summertime. Which is about two weeks in Minnie right?

Roy's "Earfood" and "Habana" are the bomb, too. Finally picked up "RH Factor" today.
P can do far worse than take in an RH show. I hope he's taking jazz notes ...

How could he be in Minneapolis? I thought his two homes were demolished? Maybe shacking up at the studio?

Habana is his take on Cuban jazz, and was my introduction to his work. He worked on D'angelo's Voodoo not long thereafter. Earfood is a bit more contemporary but has some real throwback moments that shine.

Sometimes going out for a show is just that going out for a show. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I was at the Dakota Jazz Club about a month ago....BAD and RUDE... the place is small and we were treated so bad. Maybe she didn't like black people...i don't know.
The stage is very small and the bar section is even smaller. Prime aka The Kid
