LA Soundcheck 1988

Is the soundcheck that was featured in the Omnibus documentary of Prince in LA performing The Ladder circulating? I am not asking where, but that is a very beautiful performance and I love hearing it. Thanks.

What I love about that is that I saw the Lovesexy show that evening or the next evening. He did two dates in LA, and I saw one of them. Cool piece of history for me.

Apollonia was there the night I was there. She was signing some people's programmes. She tried to get in under the stage before the show, but they wouldn't let her. She walked away and gave a sheepish shrug to the fans watching. Prince wasn't under there anyway.

The only rehearsals that I know exist from the Lovesexy tour are from Paisley Park and one from Japan and none of those have the Ladder on them. Although they have full versions of Dance On, Positivity, When 2 R In Love, Glam Slam, and Lovesexy which is cool since they were all cut short on the tour.

I think that particular rehearsal was actually at Wembley Arena, pretty sure you can see the Wembley signs around the arena. Not seen it for years though, could be wrong.

Nah, the Wembley rehearsals are shown earlier in the documentary. The same clip of The Ladder is used in A Musical Portrait and it states L.A. souncheck.

Just had to watch them both cos' I thought it was Wembley too! boxed lol
Some people are like Slinkies...

They're good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

It would be cool if (dreaming) that video or audio was released on Lotusflower. I want to hear that track in its entirety. He captures the moment and Eric's sax recipricates the mood. One of P'r highpoints.

The only recording out there that I know of where the Ladder is played live is on the boot from the final gig of the Parade tour, along with Do U Lie and Condition of the Heart. I don't know if they are full length versions or edits.

Unfortunately this one is not circulating. Wonderfull song.

There are several boots with the ladder on them. The last one I guess is from ONA Rotterdam. None of them is in soundboard quality (I might be wrong, but in that case please let me know I have been searching).

Nope, upstate N.Y.

I lived in San Diego in 1988/89 while in the Navy. I took a bus to LA to see the show. I moved to LA in 1990 (after a stint back home in Oklahoma) for a year before moving back to the mid-south for a while.
