Prince Hits Live 2 disc set--what do you think?

This is just my suggestion for Prince. Release Live Hits in 2 forms: 1) A disc with 14 live hits in digipak form (perhaps 1 new live song used to promote the CD). 2) A two disc set in jewel case, first disc has 14 Live Hits (like digipak), the second disc 12 vault "bootleg" songs + 2 new songs.
Maybe even let his fans help choose the songs on the new vault cd.
I know some people do not want the hits, but the live versions will bring new life to old classics. He could use the O2 concerts or Musicology concerts or a new concert that he could perform all of the 14 hits, record it to disc and film it for dvd release.
The fans will buy the 2 disc set, while the casual fans will by the digipak. Plus, they would make great stocking stuffers.
So, what do you all think???

Well, I really like the sound of this. I for one would buy it. But some how I dont think Prince will buy into it, and he's the one you really gotta convince about it. Youre right, live versions would bring new life to the classics. But then again, ONA live wasnt exactly popular around here was it?

Not a bad idea. My problem is that Prince stinks up a lot of his live songs with new and improved lyrics. "23 scriptures in a one night stand", changing Sexuality to "Spirituality", etc.

But I would suffer through it for some Vault material.

Incidentally, Prince did let the fans choose Vault songs for the stillborn Crystal Ball II set.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Prince would benefit from this 2 disc idea by:
By being the first person to release 5 discs of music in the same year.
Release it around the holidays, promote it, and take money away from WB's very best of Prince CD. (That should be motive enough)
The casual fans, general public, and most of all the media would love it. Use this popularity surge to promote 2010 project. By doing a US tour to support new 2010 project. While selling the left over Cds of Live Hits 2 disc set at his concerts. Prince could take pre-orders to decide how many to make. Left overs sold at concerts.
Most people after seeing Prince live will buy a live CD.
(He could even make it a 3 disc set-1 cd with the hits and 2 discs of vault material and be the first musician to release 6 discs in 1 year!)
He could even team up with Amazon.com to be the exclusive distributer on the web for the holidays. That way he doesn't have to over see shipping/distribution. And for that exclusive deal-they would promote it to the ends of the earth. Then Prince will sale leftovers at concerts.

What hits are on ONA Live that we haven't heard before in a medley and are worth listening to AGAIN? Oh, you mean the 30 second interlude of "Condition of the Heart" that people thought was at least half the song because of the way it was advertised as "his greatest his LIVE". Yeah...piano medley. Big deal. Fans can compile a better live set than that rubbish.

Sure...I do believe Prince could put another "Hits," album 2gether. I have even mentioned a title that was something like..."Prince Fan Favorites," yet something better than that...
"Purple Hippie Hits." cool

Just think how some old classics could sound on new disc set? Perhaps 1999 version on Leno (tonight show)

Why do you waste your time discussing such releases.... like Prince even cares what we want.

I would prefer that he would make his site much more worth while.

I've lost faith in P's ability to assemble a live cd after 21 Nights (first half of the disc was killer, second half unlistenable)

So while we're in fantasy land here's a live tracklist:

Sign O the Times
1999
I Wanna be your Lover
How Come You Don't Call me Anymore
Kiss
Raspberry Beret
Cream
Peach
I Would Die 4 U
Pop Life
Soft and Wet (it's my fantasy, don't judge)
Pop Life
Purple Rain
Baby, I'm a Star

As for the extra disc, it should include Possessed and an extended version of Black Sweat. Also, clean versions of Moonbeam Levels and Baby, Ur a Trip...

Ok, now I've got myself all worked up, time to take a cold shower

I think 21 Nights At The O2 was begging for a dvd release, and i thought it might happen when clips started to appear on 3121.com but hey ho! it was an awesome tour and would be an awesome dvd providing he didn't dick around with the track listing like he did with the Alladin dvd, great dvd but i believe the whole show was a bit special wasn't it?
