Shy? ___ Wonder how you compare this to anything post - Gold Experience
For some reason this tune (besides Pussy Control) holds my interest. Don't think I've ever heard of him singing it live or giving it appreciation.

I also like 319 (obviously). Shy has smooth vibe to it. Would be nice to see it live. "When words fail, music speaks..." --- Shakespeare

Great song and really unique in the Prince library. I specifically remember Scott Poulson-Bryant's Vibe review of "TGE" back in the day..he mentioned "Shy" and said (paraphrasing) that it was one of those instant classic Prince songs that are so good you can't get to the next song because you have to play it again and again. And yes, this one never shows up live though I do believe it was performed at one of the Paisley Park Fall 1995 parties. I hate this song. I never ripped it to my computer, so when I play the album on iTunes, I never even think about it.

I love this great song,
& I love the whole The Dawn boot, this boot puts the whole 1993-1995 material to justice= shows how great it was..... Prince 4Ever.

I always loved how Prince channeled Sly Stone and Joni Mitchell in this tune. That's really something only he could do. The best part is that he sounds like himself all the while. Release Yourself

don't understand why so many people always say they "hate" it.
it's a cool track. it was, together with 'we march' the only track on the gold experience that i had not heard yet when the album was released. love the beginning, the high heels on the street becoming the beat of the song etc. it could have perhaps leaned a little bit more in the acoustic joni direction for it to be a 5 star track. there is just some tiny little thing that's off about the track yet whenever i put it on to try and figure that out, i find myself just tapping my foot along to the beat and humming along to that delicious outro. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I read most of your comments and I have to say you have strange taste You're welcome to say that. I LOVE the Gold Experience, but "Shy" is not a favorite at all. It seems a bit desperate as a song, I guess. The rest of the album.....spectacular. Even "We March" (which never gets love for some reason.) And the blue you see isn't the blue I see, so "strange" is relative, eh? [Edited 5/31/09 12:57pm]
