* Thinking he could direct and act (in) movies.

* Letting Kirky J. 'co-produce' Emancipation, New Power Soul and Rave

* Thinking he could do without a record company and good management

* Releasing an album full of pseudo-religious crap and worn out jazz-rock (TRC)

* Being overly protective of his copyright (material on youtube etc.)

* Spoiling albums by putting too many generic and plastic sounding R&B songs on it (Starting with The most beautifull girl in the world / Emancipation)

* Whining about the 'old skool (company)'

So what you guys are saying is Prince should be your puppet and do what you want? He is not free to marry or divorce who he feels like? He is not free to practice whatever religion he wants? He cannot eat whatever he wants, wear his hair the way he likes or dress however he feels like?

Vanity definitely would have made PR a different film, if not better. It seemed kind of odd to just pull Apollonia seemingly out of nowhere when he'd be associated w/ Vanity for so long at that point.

His biggest mistake nowadays is seeming to be fighting the net. That's ironic given that he was one of the 1st to try and use it to distribute his music. He's killing off FUTURE fans/buyers of music behaving that way.

For me the number one mistake of Prince's career is that he doesn't release what I would call a bona fide live album and DVD release.

Those Lovesexy VHS tapes really ought to have been converted to DVD years ago, and for someone who is one of THE most bootlegged artists of all time, he could have released a whole load of great concert recordings over the years, rather than the ONA box set and that disappointing "Rave.." DVD and precious little else.
