For an awful while, I genuinely believed it was because G ... God.... and that, what with the whole religiosity of Lovesexy, Prince was being... sad.

Maybe, just maybe... with Prince supposedly in full "drug-addled" swing by 1988, he just couldn't wait to get to the H...

So that he could say "I love u", well actually it was Ingrid Chavez, not Prince.

I also figured G for God but the "kissing" explanation is way better.

One of the best moments of that album.

To make Cat sound like a thick chick too dumb to know the letters of the Alphabet.

One of two reasons:

1. To end on "I", so the phrase can be "I...love you"; or
2. It's Prince's way of acknowledging the song is in the key of G.

As cool as #2 is, I think #1 is the reason.
