Lil Red Corvette/Bebe Buell connection?

She and Elvis Costello seem to be convinced she was part of the inspiration for this song as I just read in her autobiog Rebel Heart.

Any one ever heard any info on this.
She says it's really "Bebe you're much too fast". Even though her and Prince never met, she used it to try and make Costello jealous at one point.

It's been talked about before and there's no conncection.
"Baby U're much 2 fast" Prince just said Baby in a fancy way.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

I figured it had been broached before but I'd never heard of it.

There is a part in her book where she says Costello asked her about it and had become obsessed with it, listening to the "bebe or baby" over and over thru sophisticated equipment and had become paranoically convinced it was about her.

Well he says "Baby" quite a few times in the song. But only once it even sound like "Bebe". Other times it sounded like straight "Baby".

It's actually about Jennifer Grey's character "Baby" from Dirty Dancing. Don't argue the fact that the movie came out later. Prince is a prophet.

Yeah, I was the one who actually ran a thread about this very thing a couple of years ago shortly after I read Bebe Buell's book.

I read "Rebel Heart" and "A Dream Goes On Forever." and I wonder if Bebe was reaching a little bit. She also said Todd and P have "unspoken rivalries".
