Do you think Prince will be nominated for any Grammys next year??

His TRC album, since it was released after cut-off for this year's Grammy, is eligible for next year's Grammy...do you think he will garner any nominations for it?? Or maybe his One Night Alone album except I don't think that album was released commercially and was only available to NPG Club members...

"The Rainbow Children" is an awesome experiment, if not a hit machine. I don't know if I'd place it among my favorite Prince works, but it's definitely one of the most evocative.

Still, it (nobly) wasn't launched for commercial exploit, and it neither defined the state of music this year nor totally grabbed my heart and soul. I think Grammy winners are expected to do at least one of the three (too often the first). It may go down as a classic to hardcore fans, but I don't think it'll take a Grammy.

And who cares, anyway, eh?

No, from I've seen of music award shows, it's all about who's more popular!

But Who IS popular??? EVERYONE including eminem is riding on princes jock. They all are using his name using his music sayin they want to work with him. Any chance they get weather it be good or bad they want to be associated with something from him. Even MTV I noticed last year during the rainbow children time in one or two of MTVS different shows the ones about kiss kiss in college and stuff like that part of the props in the dorm rooms etc. WERE POSTERS FOR THE RAINBOW CHILDREN ALBUM!!!Every one wants to get with him any way they can. Britteny Spears & the Neptunes. Miss Elliot, Musiqu Cee Lo there are too many to mention. Believe me the record industry as a whole still reconizes him. Its just weather Prince him self will accept this reconigtion. They dont want to look like stoopid suck ups when he dont accept.

And I was thinking another thing last night --- prince has a much better approach than miss micheal jackson. He aint claimin that "you aint seen nothing yet" and trying to get on the younger artist band wagon to make his come back. But trying to help those artist that are younger come into there element show them the new light of music that prince has always perceived real music. And prince aint trying to be all in everyones face doin his old shit tryin to make it seem new. AND PRINCE AINT TRYING TO LOOK LIKE BJORK!!!(LIKE M. JACKSON)

TRC is a great album, but I don't think he will be nominated for no Grammy. They don't recognize artist who is doing there own thing. And it didn't do well with the public only his fans. If anything they need to honor him with the Lifetime Acheivement Award. Or whatever the highest award is on the Grammys. Also he needs to be the next MTV Icon honoree. Let's give him what is due.

The rainbow children is prince's best record since lovesexy
his last classic.with this gem he enterd the phase of the complete artists.I love trc because it's so 70's, you know...
the drummer is an alien and the songs are really beautiful(last december is a nice steviewondermeetsjimihendrix stuff).I think he never played guitar so inspired like on this album... i love it... album of the (last)year...definitly

I'm assuming that you're being sarcastic, Supernova!

And I love this: "the drummer is an alien"
Somehow, that's a fantastic description!

TRC is a truly fantastic album, and doesn't deserve to receive a trashy Grammy. I don't mind keeping it as a secret for a while. In time, people might slowly discover it, and overlook it's lyrics.

I think the best album category will be between
Prince
Mike + the Mechanics
Rick Astley
Status Quo
Debbie Gibson

So, I think Prince may well have a chance...

I'm more concerned he wasn't nominated at The Smash Hits Poll Winners Party.
That is a sad reflection on the way teenagers vote...

Maybe he'll win a Brats Award...

Remember Steely Dan?

They won best album last year. That is encouraging. They are actually recognizing good musicianship. Also, the competition gets cluttered with eminem and other similar artists that an artist that stands out from the rest has a chance of winning (like Prince). I think ONA Live should win some awards, but Rainbow Children probably won't. Especially with the Wedding Feast on there.

Of course! biggrin

And as it is now Prince won't get a Grammy if the Grammy voting committee doesn't acknowledge non-major label albums, or albums that are not major label subsidiaries. It's about the industry, and Prince has never been more of an outsider within the industry than now.

I don't know how the Grammy nomination process goes-- who makes the nominations and how many they are-- or if any of them listen to Prince-- his new stuff anyway...ONA Live is not eligible for next years Grammy since it was released after the cut-off period; I think it's October, but TRC is...let's hope with the release of ONA Live they'll go back to TRC and take note of it!!!

Hell no! Ja Rule would sooner be nominated, how sad, how very sad.
All award shows like this are popularity contests and Prince don't fit into that catogory, thank God.
