I have a few Prince CD's that I don't care for but I would never pretend that they don't exist. They are a part of the legacy and even if the CD sucked, the stuff in that era might have been great like a tour or TV interview. Whether you hate New Power Soul, SOTT or Planet Earth, the CD will always exist and I'm glad that it does, even the ones I don't like.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Great point! Also, I don't understand who you want to tell that they don't exist: yourself? Doesn't make sense, you KNOW they exist, like it or not. Someone else, like someone who isn't a fan? Well, tell him about the many albums that are great, why is there a need to make it a secret there are some bad ones?

Exactly. It also needs to be said that whatever Prince CD I don't like, someone else may love. Should that CD not exist in spite of someone loving what I hate? That would be quite selfish, but thats just me and my opinion.

Actually...I've done such a good job of forgetting Kamasutra that I wouldn't have replied to this thread but for the fact that someone else mentioned it first. shrug
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

For You--The follow up was better

The Black Album--Looking back, would not have flowed well after SOTT

Grafitti Bridge--The Prince tracks couldn't even save this

One Nite alone Live--I liked the Rainbow Children album(from this era), but this was a let down as far as live albums go.

Almost on the shit list: 3121, The Vault OF4S.

3121 was a good album, much better than the stinking one called "planet earth"

We all know (even if we don't all admit)that Princes output can range from a a beautifully tarmaced motorway to a bumpy farmtrack (mostly in recent years) but what are the real potholes in the road you avoid, those albums u own but wish u didn't or those u just won't buy and would rather they hadn't been made.

The Vault
NEWS
Xpectation

ONA is only spared for Arboretum

ONA live- How you gonna call it ona and not cover all the songs from the CD!
We all want a big hit again because
we want to relive the Hysteria & Pandemonium we experienced
when Purple Rain was Hot. Actually, he doesn't care if it happens again or not.

I don't necessarily listen to ALL his others frequently (I haven't made it through 'NewPowerSoul' or either of the 'Raves' in a very long time), but the aforementioned get basically no play at all. Not even a random track or two here and there.

Me too...d&p has the edge over Gold...probably the last time I bought a Prince album that didn't have tracks that I could happily skip everytime.
Which was, D&P or Gold? Surely you at least skip Jughead?

Albums I can pretend don't exist:
Xpectation
Kamasutra
Graffiti Bridge
NEWS

A few near misses:
Musicology
NPS
Rave In2/Un2
Dirty Mind

and you call yourself prince fans ? I read the posts and you all mention albums that are typically prince albums, like the rainbow children, black album, chaos and disorder, 3121,... these are all great albums. and the live albums you mention (ONA live and indigo nights), what's wrong with those ? they represent a standard prince concert/aftershow, so you actually mean you don't like prince concerts at all ? I even like NEWS, especially the second song (east).

Yeah wel...I didnt actually mena really dont exist...it was more a figure of speach really.

More like you skip ovr everytime and never play so tehy may as well not exist...a skidmark on the pants of Princes backcatalogue.

I really wish I could see how people liked the Vault but I just dont get it one little bit...its clearly a disk full of tracks Prince considered not good enough to release except to get out of his contract
