Who taught Prince to sing?

He's always talked about learning to playing instruments, but his vocal range is off the charts. Has he ever said if he's had voice lessons?

Yes from Chaka Khan. Sly Stone. James Brown. Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes. Smokey Robinson. Graham Central Station. Roberta Flack. The list goes on.

Prince probably listened to a lot of music as a child and sang along with songs that he knew.

Prince seems to have been born with a beautiful voice inside him. When U look at Prince's talent it's surely Heaven sent. cool

I remember him saying that at the beginning of his career it 'hurt' his voice to sing in his normal register, which is why he always preferred singing falsetto, and I think he had some voice lessons to help with that. But I think mostly his vocal range is natural. His Mom was a jazz singer wasn't she...?

I once read that Prince could reach notes higher than any other male singer around and that he has 'perfect pitch' Is that true?
