Question for guitarists..(or observant supernerds)

In which songs or (taped) live instances has Prince prominently used his Digitech Whammy pedal? I recently aquired one and i'm pretty sure i've only been able to scratch the surface on it's actual capabilities..so i'm looking to my favorite guitarist (P) for inspiration.

Much love to anyone with answers.

It sounds like he uses it quite a bit on "Family Name" from the Rainbow Children, both studio and live...

Off the top of my head - 3121 and "Back to the Lotus..." both feature the whammy. I think however it is a relatively recent addition to his rig. Do not confuse the whammy with ring modulation (which he used quite a bit on TRC).

Hope this helps/

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I would love to hear him strip it down and use a sound that is a little less processed from time to time.

This rig is from the PE tour. I suspect that many of these pedals are customized. All in all I think it's a sick setup.

I would say that any guitar can be "good" enough (as long as it's in good condition) .. just realize that as with all effects gear/pedals, different amps and guitars will all have a unique sound when ran through a whammy pedal (or any pedal)..my guitar (an SG) will sound different to any other guitar with the whammy pedal. A cheapo guitar even may sound as good or better than a higher-end model with certain equipment...but sound mostly depends on how the musician plays. For instance, even if I owned everything in the rig in the above picture, I still couldn't reproduce a true Prince sound..it's unique to him just like your own sound will be unique to you as you keep playing and developing it.

Just in case anyone else is interested in the topic question, so far I've found that he used it at the end of the solo in "Dolphin" and in his solo when performing with Lenny Kravitz on "Fly Away" from the Rave dvd.
