THE LOTUSFLOW3R SET IS PRINCE'S BEST WORK SINCE 1996's 'EMANCIPATION' I have recently got hold of Lotusflow3r and from listening so far, it seems to be his best work for years, at least since 1996's Emancipation.
Its nicely produced (unlike some, think 3121), great vocals, great songs and melodies, there seems to be something for everyone. You only have to hear U're Gonna C Me and think that this is as good as anything he made in '88. Favourites so far: Ol Skool Company, No More Candy 4 U, Feel Good, Feel Better Feel Wonderful, Better with Time, Ur Gonna C Me, 4ever, Dreamer, Dance 4 Me (almost could have been pulled off the Camille album), Boom, Love Like Jazz, Elixer (again as good as anything he came out with in 1986!), I feel I had to post this seeing as there seems to be a lot of negative comments out there towards Prince and I feel we should be grateful that he has come up with such a great album. I can understand frustration with his site but in terms of the music its nice to see he can still cut it years after many thought he couldn't. Also, when did MJ last release ANYTHING new? 2001! Prince has given us something EVERY YEAR THIS DECADE! Thank God is all I can say! [Edited 5/25/09 11:56am]

Hi, the Dance, fair point but don't agree about TRC just because I left the JW-y voice over was too off putting, making it pretty inaccessible. If it was without all the voice monologues then it would have been cool.

i think it might be a little better than emancipation. at least the production offers more variety and depth.

It's not that strong of an effort. However, I'd rate it above Musicology (and I loathe that album), but below 3121 and Planet Earth which I love.

Time has shown he ain't getting any better. Dude is the 'Benjamin Buttons' of music. Oh and Planet Earth was free and Lotus is damn near free so, hey one or two good songs an album is good value. Emancipation was great, I agree the production wasn't brilliant, sounding a bit samey but on the whole the content was good.
Prince has done the odd good track since, but not such brilliant albums with many tracks I love. I can list loads of tracks on Lotusflow3r that I love which I can only do that for one or two tracks on his other post 96 albums. The only album to me that comes close in that time was Planet Earth, but Lotusflow3r so far outstrips it for me.

I was thinking the other day that if Prince used the voice that he used in From the Lotus and Back to Lotus for TRC it would have been better accepted. I love TRC in its present form, but I really like the way his voice sounds on Lotusflow3r
