I saw that....

I think only a few people can sing that song and do it justice.

EDIT: I'm on the fence with Adam though, because I like him giggle
EDIT: I think he did too much ad libbing, but otherwise, it was good.

Sorry for all the edits, btw.

Save for his performance of "Tracks of My Tears"--which, to my utter shock, I actually thought was really good--he totally butchers any- and everything he sings. He is hardly an artist, but a pompous, over-the-top drag queen who believes he's 1,000x better than he actually is.

To butcher "Ring of Fire" like he did was bad enough...then he goes and flat-out RUINS a gem like "One." Unforgivable. disbelief

I think the only one of this year's Idol contestants who could even come close to pulling off a Prince cover is Anoop Desai.

damn...that guy can really blow. yea, the adlibs get a little out of hand and he needs to reel in his tendency to be showy. BUT, that's one hell of an instrument. i mean...THAT RANGE! holy shit! from another singer's point of view, i think he's really on another level.

i heard Queen were considering using him as a permanent front man....he could TOTALLY do it. i can't think of anyone else who could, actually.

That's my beef with him too... he has talent, but is so over-the-top with everything he does. He gets very theatrical and screams too much - I was reminded of Carol Channing or Ethel Merman at times. I wish he'd learn that sometimes less is more.

I liked it ok too. Yeah too much ad-libbing but, the basic portion of the song he sang very well putting his own spin on it. And ...and it was better than that dude from who was it(?), Fall Out Boy, who did that acustic version of "I Wanna Be You Lover" that quite a few raved about.

I CAN'T STAND THIS SCREAMING FOOL! REAL SINGERS CAN SOFTLY/SMOOTHLY SING FALSETTO AND HIGH NOTES, NOT SCREETCH & YELL TO THE POINT THAT THEIR TONGUES FLAIL WILDLY OUT OF THEIR MOUTHS!
He was best when he didnt try to scream those high notes or sing falsetto and just powered out in his natural key, but I just dont like him. I agree with many who feel he thinks he is far better than he is and all this talk of his stage presence- unless you are a gay man or little girl, he does nothing for you.
Let me just add, no issue with gay men, little girls or young teens- just not impressive stage presence to me (as the judges seemed to feel), but over the top full of himself and very broadway, in my opinion. He couuld excell at doing a rock type thing in the vain of Bowie's- Ziggy Stardust days, New York Dolls, etc.

headbang Allison Iraheta was BY FAR my favorite Idol contestant this year! Only 17, with a better voice and stage presence than most singers who are twice her age! She just amazes me and I hope she becomes a huge star.

Exactly! That's why I was really impressed with his performance of "Tracks of My Tears" - he ditched all the theatrical crap and just did a very restrained, tender, and honest performance. That seriously threw me for a loop because I saw how I could really start to dig him IF he toned his act WAY down.

But the next week, he went right back to his over-the-top schtick and that was it for me; my loathing of him was here to stay.

He does a good job, a really good job. What do you think P doesn't scream and ham it up too?? That's what the song's about 'down on my knees, begging you please..'etc etc.
