I think with the amount of music he bangs out,as opposed to other artists where you maybe have a 3 or 4 year break between albums, the quality maybe isn't the most important thing.
That said-it's still higher quality than most!

yes it is, the worst of it is higher quality than most better than any at the present day. But what we may consider worst maybe we arent listening to it right for its meaning. His music discribes his words so well his music bring the meaning back to words that have lost there meaning.

No,I don't think so his musical efforts have been amazing and far above everyone elses. The Rainbow Children and ONA are Great and this live box set is Sterling in the Sound and in the Vibe. No,Prince isn't Slacking-Off he never was. Never has , Never Will!

Plainly put, the answer is YES

For a while there was no doubt in my mind about it. Now I don't think so.

Oh Yeah!!!...he's so talented that he cant stop writeing song's cause the word's r dished 2 hiz brain on a daily basis...so the only reason why he would have alot of quantity is that he's got 2 keep up with hiz talent of being able 2 write a song every day & every 5 min'z 2 even it all out at the same time of writeing the jam's he love'z 2 write & with quality!

I Say Quantity outweighs Quality especially for me over the past Decade&Change.Personally for Me A Cat like Prince has put way too much Stuff&Michael Jackson hasn't always put out enough&for folks like myself I wish for a Happy Medium but folks are too Extreme or so it seems?

I don't think it's about quantity or quality.
it's about ideas. he's got plenty of them and since he can afford it, he records all of them.

He's both (of course). For me Prince often manages to combine 2 seemingly opposing qualities--male/female; quality/quantity; intellect/emotion; child/adult; fun/seriousness.

IMHO, he is an androgyne in the best sense of the word. The colour purple is like this as well. Purple is the most regal colour. And purple is a combination of blue (intellect) and red (emotion).

I just think he's always struggled to say that a song or album isn't up to scratch - and released it anyway.
Maybe this is due to his ego, or maybe he just wants to always release whats on his mind at one particular time.

I think this policy has its pros and cons. For instance, were Prince "normal" he would have waited 3 years after PR to get us all excited about his new release, this would have robbed us of 2 of his best albums, all the best side projects and the related concert tours.

However, when it comes to Emancipation, that could and should have been a single CD of great songs, rather than an odyssey of mostly average stuff.

For his career, his lack of a selection policy has ultimately led to his downfall as a "pop" artist. For me, I've been happy all the way through. Better to have an album of 2/3 great tracks than no album at all

Well, maybe he was (some Emancipation songs), but not anymore!

Or did you get more than 5 new (studio) songs this year???

I like it the way it is. I'd prefer he just put out as much as he can, because I get impatient, and generally like even most of his weaker stuff!

I think Prince has kinda set the standard for this now. If you notice, the bubblegum pop acts have released a few albums in a realatively short time. But...the reason for that is that they KNOW their time is short in the spotlight.

Prince does it, I think because as he's said music is what he lives for. And I think he truely gets bored with the music from one album, that he feels he needs to make a new statement.

We. of course reap the benefits of that!

Far above everyone else? So, would u consider someone such as Stevie Wonder or Marvin Gaye to be that far behind Prince, especially comparing say a Rave unto a Talking Book?

I love Prince but there is more to music besides Prince.

U'd love to be even a groupie, let alone someone actually significant to Prince.

But u're not.
