How Come You Dont Call Me (Neptunes Remix) - Alicia Keys http://www.imeem.com/rick...nes-remix/
In my opinion this is a prime example of fucking up a song being all reason! They took a beautiful Prince song and turned it into straight ghetto-nized shit. Now, I've heard her version of this song from her first album and it was okay. This is basically unrecognizable! And the sad thing is, I like BOTH Alicia Keys AND the Neptunes. I'm shocked!

I'm black, and I disagree. We should be careful about how we fling and throw terms around as to indicate that because someone is of a particular race and from a particular place and socio-economic level that there is something wrong with them. One person's ghetto-nized (in a negative way) is another person's ghetto-nized (in a positive way), which is to add their own flavor or taste to something. Just because your taste is not the same as somebody else's taste does not make your taste and style any better than theirs, especially since ghetto culture, poor black culture, has provided much of the blueprint and basis for what is American music and style. I guess B. B. King and Muddy Waters were countrified and ghetto-nized, but it didn't stop white artists from ripping them off. To be ghetto is to take the scraps of nothing and make something that the world then exploits for their own gain, while telling you that you are less than, which causes you not to value your own creation while someone else is making an economic killing off it. I'm not a big Neptunes person, but I respect what they do. Most of their work is not my taste or style, but I don't go around trying to marginalize or diminish something just because it is not of my particular culture or taste.

Is that the version on the Special Edition or Expanded edition of her first CD?
Yes, it's horrible, and bears little resemblance to the original.

I like it. Can't be compared to the original, though. But still, makes me move in my seat

I like seeing Alicia's version of this song. I really liked how she added her own personality to the song and sang Papa in there... "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...
