Prince is a genius; MJ was great

People want to make him this genius songwritr in death. He certainly was great and he wrote some hits. However, his body of work doesnt make him a genius in my mind. He simply was not prolific enough to get that title. Look at the number of hits Prince still produces in a career that is nearly as long.

But even without counting real hits and output (which doesnt define genius), one cant put his work up against the likes of Hendrix, James Brown, or Stevie Wonder - not to mention the musician based-skills that a genius artist has). He was a great entertainer ever - probably the greatest aside from Sammy Davis Jr

Man I love Prince but his records now sound date as MJ songs will be played and have been played decades later. ABC, I Want You Back, etc etc.

why do you have to be prolific to be a genius? there are plenty of geniuses outside of music that only came up with 1 idea to their name.

I agree, he doesn't come close in my book - Prince is the greatest showman on earth on every level!! Michael didn't play any instruments and didn't write all those hit songs, I just don't get the hype surrounding him at all. I just feel sorry for the 3 children ( none of which are biologically his !!! ) that are caught up in this huge aftermath of his death.

Anxiety

there is a sticky provided in the music: non prince forum for thoughts like this. we don't need to start new threads for every new thought we get involving michael jackson. be respectful of the site and use it correctly.
