I think that Prince deserves a little rank higher than 72..Out of a 100, I mean at least in the top 50.

But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

the reason prince is #72 is because he is black. bear with me for a second...jimi is #1 because he is 1) DEAD and 2)he was black. if he had lived and gone in the direction predicted by his peers, he probably wouldn't be #1. now, not a whole lot of black people play rock guitar, so i believe prince is being compared not to all these white players, who happen to dominate the list, but to jimi himself. just conjecture...i could be WAY off.

fuck you and your mama too....it was CONJECTURE, dumbass...if you don't know what that means, look it up....and if you can use the half of a brain cell you have left, chuck berry's peak was in the 50's, therefore BEFORE jimi's time. god, you're an idiot.

Your favorite guitar player is the 'greatest guitar player'.

My favorite 'guitarist' is Prince.

Not because he plays the quickest licks; no, it's because he plays some of the most melodious 'slow licks'.

Example:
Colonised Mind - 1:50 to 2:12

It's Prince's style and technique that I dig. U dig?

Is that why Prince plays like and used to try to look like Jimi?

Purple Haze came before Purple Rain....
The Experience came before The Revolution.....

Like I've said before, I like them both, but Prince WAS and if you listen to "Dreamer" and then listen to "Voodoo Child (slight return)" still IS influenced by Jimi....but I think that's a good thing.

Not to argue who's the better guitarist, but on a different note, is it not possible for something or someone to surpass their influence/predecessor?

What are you talking about? You never said "since Berry was around before Jimi's time it doesn't count!" in your initial post (probably because that statement is incredibly stupid). Who's the idiot again?

i didn't know i was dealing with a BOY....i never said that because berry was around before hendrix that he didn't "count," you moron. In a linear progression, Chuck Berry was "A," Hendrix was "B," and Prince, Kravitz, Vernon Reid, etc. are "C". Prince didn't try to imitate Chuck Berry....he imitated Hendrix and Santana. THAT'S why prince is compared to hendrix. wherever you go to school, i guess they do not teach linear logic....you have to have everything presented to you on a black and white platter.

The answer is "yes", and we've all seen it. People rave about Jimi because he was took it up a notch, but have ya seen Prince live? I think that people judge Prince from what they hear on CD and are too lazy to hear him live.
Whatever...

uh, son--this is rebel's "ex"--I am 100% african-american. rebelution doesn't have an inch of racism in him, you understand? He was tryin to make the point that if prince were white, he wouldn't have to go through the shit that a black guitarist goes through. white rock guitarists are a dime a dozen. it's not the same for black guitarists, or the list would read differently. now, i can't STAND prince because he DOES play rock guitar. i'm more into rhythm and blues. His funk doesn't even do it for me anymore. as far as you being smarter than rebelution, he got a 34 on his ACT. He's got a Master's Degree. Now, beat that, young'n.

Hey cool, it's the internet so I will magically believe that you got your "ex" to post a glowing testimonial of you. (what kind of man tells his friends / exes to respond to young'ns on the web anyways? A total loser, I'm willing to bet).

This racism thing is so unfounded considering how the list has black guitarists WHO AREN'T DEAD. Just be quiet. You made an unfounded and dumb statement and you can't back it up.

Btw, this is Prince. No more candy 4 u.
