Princey knows the sales of a true Purple Rain package would put to shame all the other releases he's released for pretty much the last decade, and for someone living in the now(?????) - it doesnt exactly bode well for this view.

Hell to the Yizzah!!!! But add the movie on another disc too, the Purple Rain ultimate multimedia pack.
But it will make my 21st special anniversary 2cd set redundant. I now have to remind myself to watch the movie every 6 months, just to see the video for Sex Shooter alone (The one where Apples holds the picture of Prince after he says he can't see her and she says "Musicians!!!!!")

For years I had cheep ass tape of it from a TV screening complete with ads, a fade out in the middle and the first 10 minutes missing. All I remember when I was 16 and 17 was watching it over and over again

Well...all his movies got re-released on DVD a couple years back, so who knows? Purple Rain was by far the most successful of the bunch so if any of his films get that kind of treatment it would be that one.

OK, the 2 DVDs is going over board! But I can live without the slightly longer versions of TBO and Darlin' Nikki for the sake of the other stuff on disc 2.

Urgh, why don't more artists and record labels think like this?... Saint Etienne have just started releasing 2CD set remasters of all their back catalogue, with b-sides, unreleased tracks, extensive liner notes etc, where's Prince at?

He tried it with GB and everyone says the opposite, so he can't win!

I think a single disk version with the full length or alternate versions replacing the tracks would be really cool, plus a few out-takes, and prince could do it without warners because the versions would be different - he'd have to call it something else though!!!

what about Purple Days or Purple Music. ?

Could you all imagine the price tag on this puppy? Remember the cost of the OPUS? All would want this but won't be able to afford it.

as for disc 2, instead of the 14min computer blue, i would now use the 11min "hallway speech" version...but even doing this (plus adding possessed and electric intercourse)....we wouldnt have enough time for Wednesday and Father's song, which i think are important seeing as how they were on the test pressing!
