Here = Proof that Radio is Clueless & Sucks

sorry to start another thread about this instant classic of a song, but Here just proved again how much radio sucks, doesn't have a clue, how DJs are powerless and can't "break" a record, and how we shouldn't use it as a barometer of song/album success, this is P's most OBVIOUS hit from the set IMO

I seriously doubt that anything has been SENT to radio to be played. No promos, no singles, no albums.

Without that, radio isn't going to play it. In fact, I don't think they're allowed to.

even if something WERE sent, i doubt they'd be playing it. that RULE of servicing radio equating to air play went out the window years ago. i understand your point tho

I love the song "HERE" with a passion. But I doubt the general public would want to listen to this song on the radio. And yes the radio sucks.

"Here" is a great song. One of my favorites from the whole set. But it's not one that I'd pick to send to radio as a single for airplay.

I love "Here." maybe someday the Radio will broaden their horizons...

Some stations do a six pack of one artist...A nice program would be to do four songs by a certain artist, playing two of their most poplular songs, and two that are unknown by the general public...that could lead people to go in search of older and newer albums. cool

Radio stations are another example of how corporate greed and social lethargy has resulted in us (the would-be listeners) and the Artists being left with zilch. I guess that's why there is XM Radio and Sirrus, et al.

What the heck is a "clear channel" anyway, ever thought about where that name comes from and what it means/implies?

Hello?

Oooops, oh yeah, severl of the songs from Lotusflow3r, MLPSound, Elixir should be heard, soooo true.

sad

actually, they picked it up from a technical term:

clear channel
–noun Radio.

1. a radio broadcast channel cleared for long-distance broadcasting during nighttime hours.
2. a broadcast channel free of undesirable interference.

Chances are, if radio played this song (or any song he or whatever his label du jour have not sent a promo for airplay), Prince would sue them shrug

"Here" would have fit really well on "The Woman in Red" soundtrack. So, yeah, it might have gotten radio airplay back then, if it's any consolation.

$ is a single.

Need proof - look at Christina. Artists doing something that feels classic and retro, but with a modern edge, is something people enjoy.

I'd direct the hell out of a $ video. That's for damn sure.

Dreamer is the other song that should be a single. Just Prince going balls to the wall heavy guitar.

Colonized Mind would be the only other song he could do a single for, in my opinion. People love it. Everyone that hears it always says, 'Woah...'

The strength of that song got my roommate, who has been hearing Prince for 4 years from me and my room and in my car, to finally take a listen. Now he's stockpiling, loving everything. It's crazy.

Colonized Mind was his gateway drug. Prince just sucks with picking singles. Always has.
I wanna be loved to the 9s, so let me cover your ass with this sheet, and baby, you better stay on the beat! Cause you know the Karma Sutra? I can rewrite it. But, with half as many words.
