Love&Hate Vibe with the Cat after 1988.I still think His First Decade was the Essential One IMHO.I'll always keep a Ear&Eye on His Work because He is one of the Few Cats out here that can take it too the stage no matter what I feel about His Records. He has that going for Him.I wasn't all that crazy about "The Rainbow Children" but I'll say this:I'm glad too Hear Prince doing His Own Sound&Playing again.

I know for me, I'm more of a fan now than before because I respect the music more than I could 10-15 years ago. Iwas a kid then and I see so much in his music that I couldn't see then. Plus, like other's have said, he's helped me like other types of music because he does all types. It's been tough at times, but I consider being a fan of his like a marriage. It's not going to be great all the time but when it is, it's the best and nothing can top it. That's why I stay put with Prince as my all time favorite.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

As someone who's been a fan since the mid 80's, I'd say it's been up and down-- it diminished a lot during the early 90's and peaked again a year ago...it has diminished since and I come here at prince.org not as much as I used to...but I still love Prince and his music, but I wish he'd listen to his fans more instead of only doing what he wants...

I'm probably more of a fan now that I was 15 years ago. Prince is the last true musical genius. He may have had his lapses in form in the past decade, but he's never been boring. This year he released two new CDs and played close to his best ever live shows.ˇ

I still get chills when a tour is announced, but as you mature your tastes change. I go through periods when I don't listen to Prince music at all, sometimes three to six months.

Me too! I listen to so many different styles of music, and I go through various phases where, for weeks at a time,I listen to a certain artist (or musical style) for weeks.I've actually gone whole months without listening to a single Prince song.

I was a diehard fan in the 80s,but nowadays I consider myself more of a "casual" fan,the type of person who may not necessarily buy EVERYTHING he puts out.

Things leveled off a little after Diamonds and Pearls. Then Symbol came out and it was the first time I was REALLY disappointed with one of his records. To this day I think that album sucks the big one. was gone for me, but I still followed his music. I didn't totally abandon it, like back in 92.

Funny, the Symbol Album was my FIRST Prince record ever.!!! I really loved this piece, it made me interested in the whole backcatalogue...strange how some ppl differ in taste. I guess age is one af the most important variables in this case...
I got a ticket for the last show of the euro ONA tour! wink

I used to buy and collect everything I could get my hands on, including posters and t-shirts. And I really couldn't afford such things. Every new album release made me giddy, and Prince seemed like a magical creature.

I don't know if I'm just older or what, but Prince isn't a magical creature anymore. Part of it had to be the whole JW/vegan thing--he's more human than angel now.

I sold most everything that wasn't music. I've got everything on CD and really enjoyed last years NPGMC downloads. I just want the music--he still does it for me after all these years. But I'm not giddy.

I've also had my ups and downs. It decreased in the late 90's and peaked again around year 2000. But I think he should only do what he want and not listen to his fans more. This is his life, not ours.

First of all I DO NOT BUY BOOTLEGS. I get them from file sharing sites. I buy all of Prince's Official material.

But I never used to want any of his live show boots. Now I get as many as possible..
