I could name names of some of the people that have leaked stuff over the years but that would be pointless . I first became aware of outtakes alternatve versions and stuff like that since 1987 or thereabouts and have collected as much as I possibly can , if he were to officially release it all i would buy it in a heartbeat

i tell you what though..it has became the forbidden fruit...i cant nolonger listen to all of the cliche prince songs like Purple rain or raspberry beret with feeling satisfied anymore....i need the good stuff!! my first experience with boots was in 93..i'd go down to the village, and look to see what would be under the prince section, as i know, nomatter what record store you go to, you sometimes stumble into a european released single..or some type of maxi single not released in the u.s...i found the black album in a dirty mind C.D. not to mention soo many others...that really amazed me, crazed me..i needed more!! now with the internet, you can find anything out there from all over the world..some of my favs, would have to be the originals to things he's shortened..like computer blue and allways in my hair..but the serious books would definetly be open book and extra lovable..i like that raw sound, the random unfinished noises..even in things he never wanted out there, what im sure he considers unreleasable is still AMAZING!!! all of his emotions come out on the boots..im sure if he was having a bad day, wheather he was sad, or angry, he would take it in the studio..raw experimentation..one that is not a boot you can here it in is something in the water..when he either bangs into the studio mic when he starts talking..that sound is powerful in the song...damn it..now i need a fix...laaterrrr

Prince used to let his studio/home demos go out the door with his associates, band members, girlfriends, the cleaning lady, etc. That's all that's ever really got out - demos. He runs a much tighter ship these days. Prince makes sure to get the soundboard tapes at every show too.

Some things, like the Versace mixes, The 1987 Black Album, various promo-only remixes and mixed-down acetates/test-pressings were placed in the public domain, ultimately ending up on bootlegs for their scarcity.

The reason many boots sound like crap is due to generational tape degradation. A tape of a tape of a tape. Sometimes an earlier generation of those tapes shows up, and we get a substantially better boot.



















Listen closely... here come the people that think Prince leaked his own material and created the bootleg market...
