200 Balloons What is this song actually about? | |

About 3/4 of the way through the film, Batman, the Joker parades through Gotham City and gives away money to the citizens. The music played is 'Trust'.
However, the Joker is transported on a float with "200" in lights across the front. A large balloon is attached above and the rest of the parade is festooned with balloons. The Joker then announces that he will relieve everyone of their lives, dons a mask and begins to release gas from the balloons to murder the cirizens. Batman then swoops down in his Batjet and manages to cut the ballons away place them out of harms way. The tune .was likely originally intended to refer to this part of the storyline or for this particular section of the film but the song 'Trust' was used in the soundtrack. . Not to dismiss langebleu's knowledge, but if anyone has ever seen the Batman movie, it seems obvious as to where "200 Balloons" would have fit in the movie, and what it's about. Remember it's a direct outtake from the Batman sessions (and ended up being a near-prototype for "Batdance"), so many things from those sessions were inspired by the movie itself. (Note: Do you remember that Tim Burton using "Baby I'm A Star" in early cuts of the film, until Prince came up with a song for the scene?) | |

I've seem this particular "Batman Movie" more times than I actually remember...I can remember seeing this movie more than a hundred times and I've NEVER...NOT ONCE...made that connection until Langebleu put it in it's proper perspective!!
