Whispers And Echoes I was looking through some old paper clippings today and found a small piece in NME which stated that the follow up to Diamonds And Pearls would be a double lp called 'Whispers and Echoes' or maybe 'My Name is Prince' or 'From A Whisper To A Scream'.
It listed a few of the songs that were included on  and a couple of known outtakes but there are a few tracks that I've never heard of..
Whispers And Echoes Tasty Get On With It Go On (Witchabadself) and Pocket Rocket Does anyone know anything about these tracks, do they even exist or are they just a few titles that the paper made up? anyoeknow????? edit.  [Edited 5/16/09 14:41pm] Some people are like Slinkies...

Thats interesting....i cant remember where i read this but i thought P put this title 'Whispers and Echoes' out there as a joke because people were speculating about the next album title. That's quite possible I suppose, the paper does say that the info came from Paisley Park. Some people are like Slinkies...

The album Whispers And Echoes got mentioned here on the org before and I think I´ve also read about it in Uptown years ago.I haven´t heard those songs though.

There was also a planned album between 1999 and Purple Rain. i remember reading the NME article when it came out and getting very excited. i always assumed that this was the album that eventually became the album, rather than a project in between. Of the song titles mentioned; Tasty, I assumed later was probably Just A Little Lovin' that appeared on Carmen's awful album some time later, considering that song often has Tony M saying 'Tasty' several times throughout. And Go On (Witchabadself) is on that same album also. I think Fantasia Erotica was also mentioned in the NME article. | |
