Never understood why people say it's a bad song either. It's alright. If there's one song on Batman that I'd skip it would be Trust. Then again I never play the disc. Not because it's bad, but I hardly ever play any of his albums these days. Heard them a million times.

i made my own copy of "batman", where i added "dance with the devil," "i love u in me," and "200 balloons"... and, quite naturally, i took off "the arms of orion"... that song is tied with "jughead" and "walk, don't walk" for the title of "worst prince song ever, hands down"...

Hey Partyman is a kick ass track (not to mention one of the best Prince videos ever). Plus the often overlooked Lemon Crush is just way to fun not too like. I always thought that the 10 minute studio version of Batdance was always overlooked. I gotta give Prince credit for being creative in the studio (even though the song blows big purple monkey dongs as a live track). Finally the guitar solo from Batdance still blows me away to this day.

I'd LOVE 2 get my hands on that one - is it really as good as all that? MTV only ever seems (sorry, SEEMED) 2 play "Batdance", which is nice 2.

I LOVE the Batman album! RD will not agree, but I think "Trust" is a top-notch catchy little workout and "The Future" is undeniably brilliant. "Batdance" is singular in his career!

I never play Batman. I own it only on vinyl, never bought the cd, hehe. Terrible fan I am , I know...

I used to like it a lot even though it is not one of his best at all.

The Arms Of Orion is one of my favourite songs on the album ! (Which isn't really saying much !). Trust, Party Man and Batdance are the worst songs on it. IMO.

Thanks for all the replies! I always get a nice reminder when I play an album of his that I've neglected for a while. The man is talented.

BATMAN was the first Prince CD that allowed me to see his vulnerability. It was like finding out there was no Santa.

"The Future," "Vikki Waiting" and "Batdance" carried the album. The campy "Scandalous" was redeemed only by its awesome and even more campy 20-minute classic redux, and only the catchy refrain of "Electric Chair" saved that song.

The rest sounds like a mediocre-to-bad Minneapolis-sound wannabe album.

...And "The Arms of Orion"? All I can say is "what the hell was he thinking?" It sounds like something he was forced at gunpoint to include.

Batman is one of my fav albums!! great one to work out to or power walk too but you gotta skip Arms of orion for the work out. BUT I love arms of orion I think sheena's voice is beautiful and melds so nicely with Prince's

I think this album is underrated by Orgers. Its not what you'd call awesome, like the preceeding albums up to that point, but by the same token, its better than those that came after. Partyman, Batdance and Scandalous are all excellent tracks IMO

BTW - Arms of Orion isn't bad at all IMO.

Scandalous is the best song on the album.

I will not tolerate anything negative written about Scandalous.

For me as a hardcore type (back in 88 anyway), Batman had one big problem--it was eclipsed by the shadow of LoveSexy; a very tough act to follow, album-wise.

Vicky waiting--lovely, also has humour, which is one of the qualities Prince has that is rarely touched upon.

"Batdance" is pure brilliance...the tempo changes in that song, the way it starts out...just gets me hyped. I havent played this song in a while.
