Yes, I saw it in 2000

There are some pictures of it that circulate, there is a video of Ingrid Chavez touring Paisley Park who points it out, other group members have spoken about it in the past, and visitors to Paisley Park during some of the Celebrations have seen the outside door on tours.

On the Celebration tour in 2000, people were advised that it is not the only location where Prince stores archive material

Remember when Geraldo Rivera took a big camera crew and made such a big deal of going to open Al Capones tomb that was supposed to have all these secrets and buried treasure inside, when they finally opened it. It was empty!
I hope Prince's vault is just like that.

Is it the one pictured in the chaos&disorder booklet?

The question should be, what does it contain? I doubt there's so much more that hasn't gotten out already. Sure, there's a lot of stuff post 2000 in it, but I think most of the 80's and 90's material is out already.

Do you think prince is gonna leave his Pearls behind so that the swine can feast upon them when he's gone? Think again!

Even if the Vault contained only extended remixes of every officially-released song, I'd be pleased.

I personally think there's a lot of stuff in there, but nowhere near the "500" claim I keep hearing. That would rival (in quantity, not quality) the amount of stuff we already have from Prince.

i also read somewhere (cant remember where) that he has made all these expensive full production video clips 4 all these songs that he hasnt even released.
he's obviously a smart man but whats the point of wasting all that $$$$$
whats his plan?
i guess they'd b in there as well

if the vault is 4 when he's dead, nobodys gonna b interested but his hardcore fans

as a matter of curiousity when my 13 year old daughter brings home new friends,
i ask them "do u like Prince?" and about 75% say "who's that?"

I wouldn't be so sure - there may well be 3 tracks that didn't make it on to an album for every one that did....that certainly wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility. Over 30 years and, more importantly, as prolific as the man is, I wouldn't be at all surprised that there are 500 finished and complete songs in there that haven't been released and a whole heap of other outtakes, ideas and sketches.

What's curious about that? Do you even have a point? If I was your daughter, I'd be embarrassed my old man keeps questioning my mates about aging rock stars! lol

All sorts of pre-production goes on for projects that never see the light of day, with many artists.

I also noticed that you asked if the vault rumours were to promote the album of the same name. You surely know that the almost mythical legend of the vault has been around for years.....way before the Vault album was even imagined?

He did that a lot back in the 91/92 era with the D&P video collection, Gett Off video, etc. He shot SO much footage back then. The guy who filmed it never got paid or got paid very late. Employees, and the film maker, both said that Prince was having endless hours of tape shot, much of which was never seen. A lot of the home footage ended up in the "Gett Off" video collection. There was other stuff that later ended up in The Beautiful Experience video too. The film maker referred to all the footage as nothing more than "home movies", opposed to a cohesive film for anything (whether a song or otherwise).

The Vault surely has well over 500 songs in various stages of completion, albums, and video footage. CD

Since Prince is focused on his core fanbase for the most part nowadays with an attentive ear to what they want, we should make it clear the desire for some of this archived material! foodnow

my point is, the longer he keeps it from being released, the more irrelevant he's becoming as us older folks will die out and the younger generations couldnt give a rats arse about him

If Prince hasn't waved a gigantic magnet over the tapes of his old stuff, he probably has a clause in his will to burn the contents upon his passing. Or maybe he's willed the contents' release to any heirs he might have.

Whatever the contents, I'm unconvinced they amount to the musical paradise a lot of his fans expect it to be. For every "Train"-level gem there could be 10 "Dig U Betta Dead"-level mistakes.

Yep, I was there in 2000 also and saw it. Listen, if you have been into Prince for any amount of time, you have heard some "unreleased" things that have been stored in his vault. Where do you think all these boots come from??? wink wink cool cool

This is what I was saying too . . . the quantity might far outweigh the quality. I hope I'm wrong.

If only one quarter of 500 songs are gems, that's 10 albums.
