I am a Batman nerd to the fullest (got into Prince because of Batman) and all I can say is that you are wrong. Claiming Michael Keaton is "the only true Batman" is as laughable as some claiming that Adam West is the only true Batman. Keaton was great as The Dark Knight, but he left much to be desired as Bruce Wayne. He was a bit too old for that stage of Batman's career, too brooding (Bruce is supposed to be a shallow playboy), and Keaton was too balding for my taste. Christian Bale is the perfect Batman/Bruce Wayne. The proof is in the pudding, The Dark Knight and Batman Begins have replaced 1989's Batman as the the definitive Batman films. Look at the reviews, the awards, and the box office. Don't get me wrong, I still love Burton's Batman,(especially the soundtrack) but Michael Keaton is NOT the "only true Batman". You are so asking for a flame war.

Every once in a while some young asshole guy will come in, and it's obvious he's a dick, and he's raving about how badass Bale was in Batman and American Psycho, and how fucking sweet Terminator's going to be. I think you guys know the type without my having to explain it much.
So my friend waits for these young, violent types and tells them if they're big fans of Christian Bale, they really should check out Velvet Goldmine. Tells them it also has Ewan McGregor, and has lots of actions and spectacle. [Edited 5/17/09 14:18pm] Niiiiice. Felt compelled to buy him a drink for that slick move. I don't think Keaton was a great Batman, but he far out shined Kilmer, and definitely Clooney. I like Bale as Batman. Keaton had the right attitude but not the right look for Batman. Christian Bale has the right look but I hated both of the Batman movies he was in. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The general population needs an explanation of who he is. Plus, I thought we were talking live action only. "New Power slide...."

If he didn't have such a dorky look and was younger I'd say they should just cast him if/when they get around to making a new Batsy flick. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

You're absolutely right! and if they ever do Harley Quinn, whoever ends up getting the part sucks, compared to Arleen Sorkin!

I do hope if she ever makes it into a Nolan flick they won't try to make her a serious character. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
